Title: How do you edit events?
Post by: njschweigert on July 17, 2014, 12:41:24 AM
I know you can edit certain files in notepad in order to change the likelihood of events happening but I'm wondering if you can change whether or not raiders were going to siege first or attack first. I hate dealing with mortars and would prefer if raiders would just attack first instead of building mortars like how  they did originally.

What file / value do I need to edit to change this?

http://ludeon.com/blog/

the first blogpost there explains where you can modify the events
and I tried to take a quick glance at the file and maybe I'm blind but
I couldn't figure out if there's their own event for sieges or if they're tied to
the other raids

but the sieges are from the easiest end of raids to handle at the moment
you'll need atleast one mortar of your own to counter them
and have one single colonist draw their fire on him instead
draft him and take him somewhere outside closer to the mortars
and they should focus him

and then just either destroy them with your own mortars
or wait till they begin assault or give up

Judging from developer mode, sieges and raids are two separate events, soooo..

They're the same event. Sorry.

You could write some code and replace the raid event with a version that never chooses to besiege. But that's tough.

Or if there was a way for raiders say, 1 attacks they lose then , ,3 attack, escalating to a full man raid with mortar attacks
