I just redownloaded the game and when attempting to open to game I get an error message and the game crashes. I tried deleting all of the mods I was subscribed to and uninstalling and reinstalling and I am still getting the message.

it would be helpful if you would include the error log.
Saying that your game crash is like you would say my car won't drive or my PC don't start.
Both can have ton's of reason why it happen.
Since Rimworld crash with the window that it crash, rimworld created a folder with the needed information. Just zip that folder and add it to your answer.
You need to use the Reply button first before you have the option for file attachments.
If you got an older installation of rimworld before and just download the newest version.
Delete the Core folder at Mods and let steam repair it.
