Ryzen 5 3600
5700 XT - Using latest stable driver 20.1.3
16gb 3200hz
Windows 10
First crash was when I chose a location for the tutorial.
Second crash when about three minutes into a fresh campaign.
Third crash was when I was re-rolling my initial guys.
I have no mods installed. Going for a vanilla run with the new DLC.
Any other details/info I can post to help my problem?
Edit: I tried the game again, and it crashed just my pods with my initial guys landed. I had the enough time to save. I ran the game again and hardlocked my computer when I tried to load.
Hi,
when the game crashed it should open a window and said Rimworld crashed and created a crash folder.
Zip that folder and add it to your answer as file attachment (you need to use Reply to see the option).
But if rimworld just exit to the desktop without message, something else close/end it.
If you use steam, try to run Rimworld.exe direct over the installation folder.
There was a windowed that opened for a split second during the crash. It disappears to quickly I couldn't read what it was.
Where is the crash folder?
No, you need to confirm the crash with OK button.
So something else exit/quit Rimworld.
The error window disappears automatically, though.
Maybe it isn't an error window just a msg. from something else.
Read

to find the location of the logfile. Maybe it show something.
So, I saw this on another threa but it seems I'm missing the log AND the folder where the log should be. I don't have RimWorldWin_Data folder but I have RimWorldWin64_Data folder instead. It does not contain any text files.

Yep, i don't have them at the _data folder anymore too.
look at the 2.location

Here's my most recent one. I had a hardlock, not a CTD.

My latest CTD. Someone might find something here? I'm not very good at these.
At last the devs have all info they need (i hope).
QuoteUnityPlayer.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module UnityPlayer.dll at 0033:d85adb04.
Welp, I do hope they reply/fix this thing. I really want to play Royalty.
And thanks for helping me out, I just realized you weren't a dev lol.
After 2 hotfixes I still CRT after a few minutes into the game. Latest crash log folder attached.
Devs, any updates about this crash?
It's been a couple of days and no reply nor update from anyone.
Is there any other recourse, tests, anything to make this game playable for me? Or should I just refund it for now?
Sorry, it looks like a Unity incompatibility.

To be honest I'd test your memory to see if you have some bad memory. This looks like a deep system issue, but it's not something in the game code at least.
Ah, thank for your reply.
I have suspected this so I ran memtest86 for a few hours. Apparently there is nothing wrong with my ram.
Is it possible the error comes from GPU-related?
I did a search for "Radeon RX 5700 XT unity crash"
Looks like other got similar problems with the same video card.

Someone mention to use a special driver
https://community.amd.com/thread/241460
Maybe you take a closer look into that.
Hi. Thanks for the links. I have found an old friend who also bought a 5700 XT recently. It seems the drivers are just wonky beyond belief. Older drives does not seems to fix the crashes. He also had the same Witcher 3 crash problem from one of the threads you linked. It seems there are only certain parts of the Witcher 3 games that will crash you, but lowering shadows to medium fixes it.
I tried playing another Unity based game that is also 2D in nature: Hollow Knight. I have played a couple of hours of it with no crashes. I guess my options are either to wait for better drivers or just to get an Nvidia one. Feels bad, but crap happens.
Just an update:
I removed my 5700 XT and plugged in my old GTX 960. No more CTD but I have BSODs now(I also got BSODs on 5700 XT). I did another full memtest run(4 passes) and have zero errors.
I'm not sure what to think anymore. It's weird that only certain games will give me crashes and BSODs.
You know a PC isn't the same PC like any other.
Same a game don't use the same thing like other games.
Even when a game use Unity, there are different version.
So i think the current Unity engine Rimworld use, rarely use some function of a driver that might lead to a crash with the 5700XT after a while.
Since the 5700XT isn't a cheap one, i wouldn't expect that.
If you got time and passion, try to report it to the AMD support ! :-)
I don't think it's the 5700 XT since my GTX 960 is also crashing.
I also borrowed some ram from a friend. I tested it just now and I still get BSOD.
Changed GPU, changed ram, fresh Windows 10 install, hard-resetted the BIOS by removing CMOS and power cable.. I guess it's the mobo or my CPU. Probably the mobo, right?
Edit: Funny thing is, I tested Rimworld BEFORE installing any drivers on 960. I ran it for 45 minutes with no crash. Once I installed the drivers it started to BSOD. This problem is a real mystery.
Another update: I brought my whole computer to a store to get it tested. I think they hard reset'd the BIOS once and no crash happened.
Now I just got home and I'm getting CTDs again. Is it possible that 144hz monitor and/or displayport is causing me the problems?
Last update:
Finally I have fixed the problem. The solution: Get another mobo.
It seems the mobo was faulty. It is very weird that it will only give me BSOD on 144hz refresh rate, while being perfectly fine on 60hz. That was a problem that was very hard to diagnose.
Thank goodness I can play some Rimworld again!
That would be the last thing i would have though of.
Look's like with 144Hz the mainboard need to handle much more data then it support, and then it lead to a crash.
Nevermind, I'm getting BSODs and CTDs again. Will go to the tech store soon to, again, check what's wrong.
