Title: Making wort but not beer?
Post by: Cassey on March 10, 2020, 06:21:38 PM
Hi all.  Have a brewery and dozens of wort in the freezer - but despite having over a dozen beer barrels they are not actually making the beer.  What am I doing wrong?

The only thing I can think is the room the barrels are in is too cold or hot. Click the barrels and see if they say anything is wrong.

Make sure you have haulers to bring wort to the barrels. Or it might be a Cooking job. Your pawns aren't overloaded with work are they?

Everyone is busy, but not that busy.  e.g.  Lower task things like cleaning are happening, but I'll make sure someone has hauling as job 1.

Yup. Filling fermenting barrels with wort is considered Hauling.

You can also force colonists to fill the barrels by right clicking the barrel.

Thanks all.  Prioritizing one colonist to haul (vs. just using dogs) did the trick.

Also note that it doesn't really matter how quickly the wort is loaded, so long as a barrel has at least some wort in it.

When the first wort is added, the fermenting progress starts.  The additional wort can be loaded at any time.  ie.  You could put one bucket of wort to to begin the ferment, then load the rest of the wort when the ferment is 99% complete (or before the wort will spoil).  Overall this would save hauler travel time.
