Post by: gullfounder on September 09, 2014, 02:25:18 AM
Hi,

I have been following this game for over an year. Really really wanted to play. Many times i asked the dev to put on steam or at-least give us alternate way of payment. But no response. Just soon TM.

But i just downloaded the pirated ver. Sorry, couldn't wait any longer. thanks for support.

So did I. I cannot use any payment methods instead of Steam. Though, you have my promise to buy the game when it will hit Steam.

you still can contribute to community and still able to buy game later.

also you may try contact Tynan via email directly, and use other payment method of you really want to.

I pirated the game at first too. Some of my suggestions/Observations came from my time with the pirated version.

It'll help if you pay for the game though. The community is pretty new so Tynan still needs the moola. Unlike say Minecraft.

If you can't pay but want to help out then just play the game and share tips and report any bugs you find either in the main game or in the Modifications/Mods.

Out of interest: how does it work? I think that Steam requires a credit card, and you can pay for RimWorld with a credit card. How is that different?

I also don't understand what alternatives you expect as both the most popular ways to pay are covered. Paypal and Credit card so how did you want to pay by cash!?

I'm using terminal to fill my steam wallet, so basically I'm using cash. I have no cards that can be used for online transactions. So, what should I do then?

start a bank account.... unless you're younger than 11 anyone can do it, then just link that to paypal.

Huh, I didn't know it was even possible to do this.

Well, if you have a bank account, I think you can still create a PayPal account even without a credit card. Here is a link I found: http://www.ehow.com/how_4798141_paypal-account-credit-card.html (http://www.ehow.com/how_4798141_paypal-account-credit-card.html)

i don't understand the problem, open up a paypal account and transfer money from your bank account to paypal. i am sure you can make transactions with your bank account (wiring money). so there should be no problem getting money to paypal and then buying the game.

there is always option to pay.

provide your "country" and i will google in no time method to pay without "implict" ban account.

virtual visa payed by sms or similar serviced, direct bank transaction or similar.

services like "webmoney".

there is always option to pay if you really want.

Tynan will put it on Steam when he is ready for it. There is no pressure to realease it in early access, as early access has its own problems (people starting to cry "refund" when they find out there are bugs in an alpha, or when they think the game isnt being finished in the time they want it... stuff like that)

You could at least try to mention what kind of payment method you would have needed. Because all the usual ones are still working. Also giving some bloke the money and ask him to buy it for you is still an option.

i hope he knows that many blogs, this too, blog the ip address of its userse and that he just admitted doing something illegal and his IP is know clearly to see for the admin(s).

other than that, if you pirate a game i wouldn't go into their forums and poke my nose around. if you really wanna support this dev (@OP) then guy it. saying that you can't use paypal because your credit card isn't accepted is a bad excuse. you can create an paypal account without a credit card and then just transfer money via your bank account onto the paypal account. the integration of a credit card is for paypal to automatically get money from your bank account but you can charge up your paypal account without integrating your card.

so sorry but i don't see a reason why you shouldn't pay the dev the money to support him.

There are always ways to pay for something without having to resort to piracy.
Don't have a credit card? Grab a friend who does and give them the money and get them to buy the game for you. Tynan can change the email address used for the purchase, so that you get the game download link instead of your friend. (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=1311.0)
Many countries now also have a system where you can purchase a one-use-only Visa card with a predetermined amount on it. Grab one of those, then buy the game via Paypal or Stripe.
Others have pointed out other ways of putting money into a Paypal account without a credit card.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I understand that for many people, the options above simple aren't available. In this case though it appears that those options might be available, which is why I mentioned them. :)

Piracy discussions are not okay here.

If you want to buy the game, as noted above, there are lots of ways. People use temp credit cards, they get friends or parents to buy it, they start a PayPal account and put a few dollars in, and so on. Or, they just wait for Steam.

Pirates: Temp-banned. Hopefully you'll find a way to get a legitimate copy before returning.
