Title: I cant be bothered!!
Post by: Smasher5523 on November 03, 2014, 11:35:28 AM
I have spent about 2 hours on this game finding a perfect location (to me, thats a huge clear space in the middle of the map with all the rock and stuff on the outside, maybe a bit inside) but its so difficult, i was wondering if anyone could let me know of a map that fits the description i gave. BTW! I the first large map (300x300) Any maps?

The maps are all randomized, so unless someone gives you a specific seed and coordinates, you'll pretty much have to try and find the PERFECT space on your own.

Personally I think the closes thing that you described is spawning on some Plains. I suggest the Forest since you'll have enough Wood and possibly metal to start off quickly.

well, this is KINDA what you are looking for.

Basically, in the top of the map, there is 2 mountains with empty space in the middle.
bottom of the map (depends on how big your map is) is an ocean. left side of the map and the right side of the map are cut to a different area because of a mountain, so pawns spawned from left can't go to the right without entering my killbox, and vise versa.
The right side of the map has more open area than left (hence my killbox on the right is bigger)

If you like that, then go here to find the seed

Holy crap I don't think I've ever had a base get that strewn across everywhere/messy.... Not even with a bunch of mods that add an extra 100+ things.

you can always get that "less incendent trolling mod" (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=6892.0) and go into and change all the incidents to 0 chance so nothing happens,  but probably want to keep the trader ships the same :D

*sigh* 2 more hours of finding nothing is a go!

You call it messy, I call it beautiful. I love organic bases that sprawl everywhere, he's got plenty of secure land so why not take advantage? :P

More on topic: Honestly, why stress so much about it? Those two hours fussing about a perfect start are two hours that on a less-than-perfect start you could've been playing. That's more than enough time to make up for it on a decent start location. And it's more fun, if you ask me. Just pay attention to the little details on the landing destination screen.
