I like to play hardcore games (coldest, plains , no growing season, etc) As it turns out I don't last for more than five months and end up having to create a new colony. I sometimes spend more time trying to find (-57F/46F) (-49C/7C) temperature zone than I do playing. Is than an easier way to start a new colony in the harshest temperature zone with out scanning every little spot on the map?

1. Get the IceSheet mod if you don't have it (enables ice sheet biome).
2. View the map in Temperature view (rather than Full).

Ice sheet biomes usually have no animals to hunt and no growing season, forcing you to rely on purchased food & hydroponics. Summer temperatures usually are below 0F, with the winter getting as low as -80F on some seeds I've seen.

I've seen them go below -120

On this world seed are several spots with around -95C (-140F) during winter. On the map i tried it dropped to -117C (-178F) once and a Centipede got Serious hypothermia and passed out :D
