So I've been playing since alpha 6 and I just can't figure out how to get my colonists to put chunks and slag into stockpiles. My colonists will bring them to the crafting tables but not stockpiles. I have stockpiles that exclusively allow slag/chunks, I have dedicated hauling colonists. There are chunks and slag inside and outside of my home region. I feel like it's something simple that I'm missing. Any ideas?
Have you marked them for hauling in the orders menu?
You're using DUMPING Stockpiles, correct? Because I don't believe they get taken to regular stockpiles.

They can be if you click on them and enable the chunks, but they are not by default.

I have had only a normal Stockpile before and set it to chunks, set hauling as important for all and marked all chunks, they took them straight there..
I'm not sure about slag, but chunks definitely do get taken to regular stockpiles if they're allowed. I have a dedicated chunks stockpile outside my stoneworking room and it works fine.
Not sure why it's not working for you, OP. I have noticed that chunks that haven't been mined or hauled before (ie, stuff that's naturally found on the floor) will take an eternity to get hauled, it must be lower priority than everything else. But stuff you've mined yourself shouldn't be an issue.

Sonofachunk! Knew it was something simple! Didn't even know that was in the orders menu. Thanks team!

As far as I can tell, the only difference between a dumping stockpile and any other sort is that the defaults are set differently. Is this not the case?
^ That's correct. The difference is ONLY in the default settings, but they can be made functionally identical.
There is a minor difference though: If you use the Dumping Stockpile tool and click a dumping stock pile, you'll select that pile and can expand it. If you use the Dumping Stockpile tool and click a regular Stockpile, you'll deselect the tool and only select the stockpile. And vice versa for Stockpile tool selecting Stockpile or Dumping Stockpile. The game internally tracks the two separately, it seems.
