I totally missed that.  Thanks for the link!  I wonder what the stats are for other trees?  But it does seem like Oak is the best choice over time.  (Also, good to know you can get ~1 wood/day.  My 19-skill artist was running out of wood to craft.  Last time a trader came by, I sold enough Masterwork - Legendary wood art to buy an AI core! ;D)

Just a heads up that post is from Alpha 7, I'll do another go of it today though. It'll be a lot more accurate now that I'll include plant resting time.

Try this, just as an experiment...

Large room, closed and roofed over, lit by Sun Lamps, no hydroponics, equal sized growing areas for each type of tree. I'm doing that now with cotton, strawberries, potatos and medicinal herbs.
