Didn't see a thread on the first page, and unsure this forum's policy about necro* so I figured I'd make a thread.
Curious who here is a fan of Star Trek. I'm a huge fan myself and can generally identify any episode by the teaser. I like TNG-DS9-VOY the best. TOS has not aged well, and ENT just has too many painful episodes, especially early on (for example episodes where they run in to species that the TNG crew knew nothing about)
I've even seen all TAS episodes; though only once, compared to the others where I've seen each episode two times minimum (with the possible exception of some of the more absurd TOS episodes)
Curious if other fans are around!
*I've been on forums that ban you for posting in any topic that's not had a post in 14 days, and, on forums that ban you for not posting in an identical topic that's not had a post in 4 years. Ironically the former in a Star Trek related forum.
offtopic is offtopic post what you want...within reason.
Im not a "trekkie" per say but I do enjoy it, ive seen all of them and if theres nothing on tv theres usually an episode of one of the series on. I was actually scouting around to see if anyone was making a new tv series just yesterday (I was watching TNG at the time). Alas nothing in production it seems.
What I've been hearing is that if the next movie is a hit (as opposed to just an action romp) they will consider making Trek into a TV series again, but more in the vein of Game of Thrones or Doctor Who, where you have 10 or so hour or hour and a half episodes per year.
I love Star Trek!
I'm always torn between DS9 and Voyager. I like the cast of Voyager better, and I just love me some Borg, but I'm also always blown away by the grand storyline of DS9, spanning all seasons. (basically DS9 with Janeway as captain and the occasional Borg invasion through the wormhole would have been pure geek heaven for me).
I've also played Star Trek online occasionally since it launched. The whole F2P element is a major turnoff, but it's not as heavyhanded as with SWtOR, so very playable.
IMO Janeway was awful. At least the way they wrote her, Kate Mulgrew is a great actor.
DS9, especially the latter half of it, was pure awesomeness.
Still, I'm not sure if anything can compare to Season 5 of TNG. Take out the few stinkers and you have a solid block of Trek being what Trek should be.
My first Trek was TNG, so I have a bias to androids that inexplicably spans to my choice of phones. That said, I do prefer DS9 to VOY with the same reason as Teddy.
In terms of opening song, though, VOY blew me away. Here's a controversial one, ENT's is a close second. Having lyrics was actually a plus, somehow.
Loved them all. At the moment? Hooked on the original series. :)
Been a fan since I watched TOS in the 70's in reruns on a Black & White TV.
I've watched all of the episodes of all series except Enterprise - for which I just didn't care.
I have been in several fan groups (usually working) and met many of the actors...
All but one were just really nice people.
Anyone interested - there is a very nice little convention (general - not specific Trek) over Mother's day in Columbus Ohio called MarCon (marcon.org)
