There seems to be a major issue with some part of the graphics, especially during weather changes though it has happened once during no weather (perhaps changing to a lighting storm?).
Now these aren't as bad as the main one I've been getting but that one turns into these when I go to windowed mode to snap a picture:
1.

2.

Nvidia did add the 'optimize approved games' thing last time it updated but I suspect this game runs on my Intel (my laptop runs dual).

Compress your saves into 7z with 7-zip, otherwise they are too large to meet forum limits. What GPU is it? I looked here (http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/computer-peripherals/personal-computers/series-5-rf-series/NP550P7C-S03HK) and see GT 650M, but you may have a different notebook model.
It is the 650m model.
Thanks for the save file tip.
The main file have has it happen multiple times despite going to any autosave point.
The second file had it happen within ten minutes of playing.

Auto save 4 gets it the moment I load the game.

According to your saves you have 0.0.254, this bug was fixed in 0.0.254B.
I swear I had b installed. So bizarre.
I go to the link, I download the game it lists (and its folder states that it is 254B) and put it on my desktop but the actual game file just states the regular 254 copy.
Checked my emails, even my husband's link (I bought him a copy Nov 16th directly from the website) and they all state 254B on the folder with 254 inside of them. Was there an incorrect file sent out of B?

mmm weird.
The right file has been send out.
And is being used by most. I will talk to tynan about this as soon as he pops online.
And to my understanding this bug indeed hasnt happen in 254B so it should solve your issues.
Just a quick reminder don't use old save files.
To be fair, most of my colonies die quickly. The AI has a habit of catching me with my pants down (one of the reasons I love this game so much). So 100% of my game files should be current. Or at least current to whatever game base version I'm using.
Only ones to make it anywhere end up with that bug. The file 254b slash not b thing has happened to my husband's game as well. I went through his link, since it was only just made a week ago, it's got the same naming scheme as mine. Unless the main file never got the B added. In which case the problem might be solved.
I'll play with a new colony in a little bit with the base game from my husband's link and see if the error pops up again. Could just be my link after all, Kickstarter had some confusion with my email as a backer originally.

This is true, the executable is called 254 even for the 254B release (but the directory is correctly called 254B).
This is what happens when i load your safe boombaby.
It clearly shows you are using .254 instead of .254B
If you cant manage to get it sorted send tynan an email (
[email protected]).
I am not able to resend you you'r download link if i could i would sorry.

If you need your download count reset (you'd have had to have downloaded the last version 3 or 5 times), please email me at
[email protected], I'm happy to fix it up.

I'm not sure why it IS 254, that's the problem. The file folder even states it's 254B but the game itself seems to be a 254. As you've confirmed with that screenshot. Now I've again completely wiped anything RM related on my laptop and redownloaded it (as mentioned earlier). Played a game for a good 2 hours without issue. I'll play another hour or two tomorrow, by which point it should be at the same point as previous games that have had this issue.
By that point we can safely assume the issue was just a freak of nature ;D
Cheers Tyr about the resetting the download amount. I'm going to save a copy of the game (should it pass this test) on my media server. Should prevent me from needing to redownload it again later on. Thanks for the offer though.
I'll update tomorrow if all goes well.
Update:
Four hours of game play and it's going along fairly well. I suspect that an autosave from a previous edition may have been the culprit. I usually only name a file once it's got to a point of surviving most of the difficult raids. So I rely heavily on autosaves for my colonies. It could be that once the game autosaved over a 254a copy the glitch would appear. Thus the confusion over the game version and the error in general.
If that is the case, next time there's an update it might be an idea to include a 'how to remove saved files' readme for those not entire aware of where Rimworld saves to. Or a general 'easy to avoid mistake' file haha.
Anyways seems to work out fine now!
Cheers for the hard work guys/gals :)
