I hope I'm not breaking any rules here by making this post. I'm developing Embark, a game in the same genre and inspired by games like Rimworld. The focus is more towards the social aspect and having a large game world.
I've put it up on steam greenlight (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456160792 (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456160792)) and would love to hear what you guys think. What aspects of this genre do you think I should focus on?
Steam page. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1055090)
Awsome mix of concepts, i like it. Look forward to see "The Finished Game". The game needs some "items" "mechanics" call it what you want, just something to make every base, fight and walk more different in their feel. Other than that i just want to tell you how good the game looks. Ceep upp teh gud wurk senpi :D
woah, this looks promising.
is there a demo?
This looks awesome. What would it be price wise?
Oh, and I just KNOW you need a private tester! ;-)
This does look pretty good. I'd be happy to see more titles in this genre :)
I'm telling you, I'd make an awesome private tester.
This looks like 3-d Rimworld(without all the futuristic stuff or ridiculous player-made houses, of course :P)... AS IN AMAZING!!! I would pay for this, no matter what the price was. Unless it's over like twenty USD, because I've never even had more than that on my steam account, but I don't have spare money for games between gas and a new computer ;)
Looks like 3d dwarf fortress, i hope it isn't as clunky.
Can i beta this? looks awesome

I secondly would much like to beta this.
I'M GUESSING 20-30$?
+1 for the idea. If done well it could be amazing.
-1 for the vaporware feeling of posting on the forum and never coming back...
Oh gee, sorry about that, thought the post here was properly buried and stopped checking up on it.
It's been a long time but progress has been good! Just made a devlog video on the water system in Embark https://youtu.be/5kDuOKN7ah4
(https://youtu.be/5kDuOKN7ah4)
Hoping to get more people to test it soon.
Looks like a very intriguing game to be honest, please advise when it be out as I am going to be all over this
Definitely color me interested. It looks like minecraft but as a colony manager, and I'm all over that. Might even get me back into minecraft to test out designs for fortresses before ordering the settlers to build them.
Space future mod when? I need gun turrets on those walls. And a deep underground movie theater.
When it comes out on greenlight, make your own forum and send us a link! We've all already given tynan our money so I'm sure he won't mind TOO much.
(as if I'd ever truly give up rimworld. It's like dwarf fortress but I can understand what's going on!)
Like Rimworld, it's made in Unity as well, so modding should be easy with minimal effort from me :)
Seems interesting, but on a glance I haven't seen a life sign in a while....
...would be nice to see a blog post or something.
Our Twitter (https://twitter.com/EmbarkGame)has been fairly active
Mix of BattleMiner, Minecraft and Unreal Studios own Survival game. The cubic look kinda draw me back but I hope it is based on your own mind expanse.
@iemfi - I'd love to find out more about this game, I usually love games like this. Do you have a website or something I can look it up on?
Our Twitter (https://twitter.com/EmbarkGame) probably has the most info, but also check out the website. (https://embarkgame.com)
Also looking for testers now, sign up with your email at the website.
I've signed up for the email updates, loving the amout of content on the website and cant wait for the game.
when are you gonna be releasing it???
as an alpha or full game???
either way I'm super stoked
Shame that Steam Greenlight went down. Well, no, it isn't, but for you it is. Better luck on Steam Direct once it comes out.
We got through Greenlight over a year ago now. Although no difference there, since the Steam Direct fee is the same.
Is there anyway to buy the game directly like rimworld? would love to make sure that you get all the profits to your game
Not yet. Might do a kickstarter soon though. What do you think about doing one?
What are the (estimated) system requirements? Game looks interesting, but I'm afraid that overclocking my potato will result in french fries and tears. ;)
iemfi sent be a closed beta test of this game, unfortunately I have a very potato laptop so even on the lowest graphics it was still very laggy, but when paused and graphics at full I was able to look around the game a bit and was very impressed with the details and the building aspects, safe to say I would definitely contribute to a kick starter if I got a better computer but if you are someone who plays on laptop or a poor spec computer unfortunately it is just too slow. good luck though for the future and I will definitely be keeping an eye out

Anything fairly modern with a graphics card should be fine. Should get better when I get around to optimizing the graphics.
Just a quick update. Development has been continuing steadily. Pretty happy with the technical side of things, lots of features are in and everything is pretty stable. The gameplay side of things is another matter though, could really use some help with balancing things and adjusting the pace of the early game.
Made a second devlog video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ECaILXV7hE
This looks beautiful.
We're now on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1049608286/embark-3d-dwarf-fortress-meets-the-sims)!
Yearly necro! DF isn't the only DF-like coming to Steam, Embark will be on Steam early access in a few weeks.
Post about the temperature system coming in the next update. (https://imgur.com/gallery/jYhHG42)
Can't believe it's going to be 4 years soon... :)
I was about to say "Sweet necro, bro" haha
