Nine's mod pack was the only reason I have really been playing Rimworld...
Not the individual mods as such, but all the implemented mods working together leading to the experience it gave.
Something which just isn't the case when downloading them individually (if they work together that is)

It's a shame it panned out this way, such is life....but Kudos for taking on the challenge ;)

Like others, this modpack was what made me continue play Rimworld.
I won't be able to help in modding or balancing at all, but if you want technical help with Github or other stuff like that don't hesitate. ;)

Btw, will the new modpack be from scratch (with the same spirit as the UOM) or a direct continuation of the work of Nine ?

It is a little sad that nine finger is disappearing. He may have been controversial and wasn't perfect, but the UOP made my experience and the experience of many others far better and more convenient. The work of juggling mods manually would have consisted of hundreds of hours if everybody had to do it on their own, and the mix of possible mods would have been poorer and less varied. He spent a great deal of time trying to make a compatible and balanced experience for everyone, and mostly succeeded.

RIP ninefinger, may your contributions and controversies in the end ultimately prove to sum up positively for the rimworld community, as I believe it shall. He did a hella of work clunking things together and I'm amazed my computer doesn't literally die every time I load things up.

Another shell-shocked refugee form the UOP old thread....when I saw it was gone I had a minor panic attack, and i am concerned for Nine :( , but it is awesome to see the banner taken up by TheGentleman :)

Great! I only started getting into modded gameplay very recently and enjoyed trying out the original pack, just to see it all come down in flames. Now I don't know any of the people involved or the previous arguments as I really only come to the forums when there's a gameplay issue. But just from reading your posts and plans, I suspect that your way of communicating and going about things (such as asking permission first) might lead to a more long-time sustainable project than the... hm, ideosyncratic approach of the original compiler.

So, good luck, and I'm looking forward to the release!

I have released my copy of UOP, it has a few extra mods, like mountain temp, and smooth wall, it has ALMOST all the paches (Not including no seeds please & no darkness), a custom version of darkenses and is missing alien ants and miner's helmet.

nice to see someone still contiune this amazing modpack, one thing to this because in last build i cant see this ( older version have alpha 10), can you add droids to this modpack i know for some people this is usless but try build base in place where - 80 is standard tons free food and no free hands to take all ( or burn all).

Droids? Hrm, mabey... Was it the mod Miscellaneous? If so then yes.

I wanted to throw some thanks to Gentleman. It comes with a heavy heart that I have to report I have banned Ninefingers after all the drama he's caused and the problems he's made for everyone. I don't do this peacefully mind you all, Nine was a good guy... he just made poor decisions. Gentle brings to the table a different spin with a lot of heart ready to make a pack that the every-player can really sit down and enjoy. Lets try to make sure we don't bog the poor guy down with crazy requests or problematic posts!

not miscelaus. when he add thsi this name droids or something like that yopu produce specialized droids what do one job like clean and haul, cremaotry gardening etc. this is very usefull when you have arctic base. this 2 small bots form miscelause are to slow and to fast need recharge for now 5 colonists have poroblem to clean map 500 bodies on map. about mai i have problem becuase on last version before website was deleted, colonists dont want build this mai. old droid was build on smithing table and need ai core in that mod.

New to modding. First heard about UOP yesterday, when it was already too late :(

I downloaded your copy of UOP. Installed on a fresh install of RW (12d) (extracted mods to mod folder, copied modconfig to appdata). Got ~20 red errors. When in-game, missing loads of graphics. Anyone else getting this, or is it just me?

Gentle i believe the person mentioning droids is referring to the droids from MD2 (they weren't added previously due to apparently being incompatible with the mods and there was no patch made at the time)

Yeah MD2 droids isn't A12 compatible yet, I think I read that its being re-written... but MAI Robots is pretty cool anyway.

Yes it does:
"This patch allows you to safely remove seeds please. This patch MUST be applied LAST and Seeds Please Mod must be disabled manually in game." -Old website

Without the patch, when ya disable the mod the game bugs out and stuff.

If you have "no seeds" listed as a mod, then you probably didn't unzip it correctly. 
When unzipping it (last) it should overwrite some files.  Then you only have to disable the seeds please mod, there is nothing to enable

I'm still running with the 216 build of UOP with Glitter-tech, no seeds & tools for haul, since it was the last one I had downloaded..
I have the rimsenal patch too, but that was downloaded with build 191, not sure how much changed in UOP's last few days of being online.

Please pick a direction for your mod pack, and stick to it, don't let it get bogged down with request after request.  UOM had become bloated, and due to the huge lag, was becoming unplayable.

You can try to please all the people, and add everything, which will upset everyone along the way, or pick a direction, and stick to it.

And if your small mods are any indication of where you will be going, then I will not want your modpack... and that is my choice, nothing against you, but you seem to like the hard impossible challenge. I prefer the challenge of building the base/colony, and running of the colony, and keeping the colonist happy.

I plan to make it relatively challenging (Slightly less then HCSK), where the only way to live is to automate everything, a foundation of this will be the research web, something like the one in Civ 5. That means you can reach your goals in multiple ways.

But my main goal is simple quality of life things, vein miner, edb interface, research info, health tabs, HILCAH and similar.

I don't plan to make a wooden skyscraper on a marsh that will crash down in the slightest touch. I plan to make a small room, a modpack-lite with a good foundation.

So basically my version of SC + things like MIA and droids with a few random mods here and thier, mods which you will never notice.

As for my 'fun' mods, they'll must like be not included... and if they do they'll be in the form of patches.

On a thurver note, I'm not going to try to cater to everyone, its not called TheEveryonePack, its called TheGentlePack. Its thery hard to convince me to do something. If I think the earth is flat, it will take you weeks for you to make me even CONSIDER that the earth isn't. So I'll leave it on this:

This isn't really related to the Gentlepack, because this is an issue with the original UOP.

Where are all the added backstories to be found? A couple are in Backstories Core, a couple in PreTranscended, and a couple in BetterTribals, but I don't know where the rest are. The gratuitous overuse of restrictions in some of the backstories is annoying me (why would an urbworld humanitarian be unable to face fire?), and I feel like manually editing a few things.

I'm using the file from the third post in the thread, but it seems a number of things are missing textures, such as bars and copper ore. Should I simply wait for the new version instead?

I'm still running with the 216 build of UOP with Glitter-tech, no seeds & tools for haul, since it was the last one I had downloaded..
I have the rimsenal patch too, but that was downloaded with build 191, not sure how much changed in UOP's last few days of being online.

Err, my fualt.

UOM adds a few textures into the core folder and I didn't put a core folder... sorry.

The only reason I ever played RimWorld was for UOM and Ninefingers. I'm sad to see him go. I guess this isn't really a continuation of UOM since you are starting from scratch, but I hope it adds the elements of entertainment we got out of UOM. I'll keep checking in on ya from time to time and see how it's progressing.

When making the gent pack I took the vienminer out of the file... forgot to put it back... fix soon!!!

As for the tree symbol, that was in the original UOM, I reported to Nine and he said he couldn't repo it. I experience it too and I'm unaware of its cuase...

Sucks too see nine go. He did a lot of great work even though others made the mods he did do a lot of work putting them together. Out of all the versions and alphas I don't think I had 1 bug from his modpacks if there was they were fixed very fast. Stuff happens though, glad someone is picking this up!

I have a small question. Will you be balancing the various things from the diffrent mods you use? like the stats of some weapons compared to others? or pieces of armor or things like that. By balancing i mean balancing them in the context of your mod, or are you forbidden by the various contributors of said "stuff" to do so ?

Currently the only building I add are a doormat, snow machine, soil, bones maker thingy and a mini reactor... theirs not much to balance really. The rest are all UI enchantments and other minor things...

If I need to balance I am allowed by the molders, although Alstiare requires me to list the changes for his mod that shouldn't be a problem.

You have inherited a monster task there.

I have only been playing rimworld cause of this modpack. As it wasn't finished (was waiting for mipens bots), i haven't even played the Alpha 12 at all yet.

I do hope you can get a modpack up and running that may be a worthy replacement. Quite bummed that i may have to wait even longer now till i get to see the A12 version.

Really hope you may include mipens mods, as for me those bots were amazing ;).

Would say for me the best mods of the old pack have been the bots, the advanced power generators from bunkertech (at least i think bunktertech added them?), the enclosures from eazy defence, and the glitterworld stuff.

You mentioned it is a restart, and that you will keep the overall number of mods lower. Curious to learn what your selection will be. I for sure loved the old pack, and am sad that things went the way they went.

Well... Then DAT meens I could release it now.
But I won't. Any noob could release it like dis. I want to make something new. A.k.a. I will make the Research Web mod. After that I'll consider if I release or not.

Edit: RWeb mod is not minor. It will NOT be overglanced. It IS gonna be like SC. If you do over glance you won't find my MP fun. You'll have missed dozens of tables of a ton of researches.

Thank you Gent for doing the UOP Rebooted! I just wish it would be finished now and not in a few months ;)

I´m still sad it had to end this way. Nine as his modpack made up a large portion of why I loved this game so much. The re playability was endless and I probably spent over 100 hours using his mod pack. And all the work he put into making everything work together, it´s just so sad... :(

So the research web mod is the new Superior Crafting? It worried me a bit when I can't find SCA in your mods list. I always think SCA is kinds of the core of UOM that link every other mods together.

Take your time to get everything on your list done and quality up to your bar, since you will get huge pressure once you release it.  ;D  Everyone can still play the old UOM and A13 won't drop any time soon, so we'll be fine.

Been awhile since I've been here, kinda took a break after the all of Nine's stuff disappeared and I decided to google Ultimate Overhaul (Finding this.)

Its nice to know Project Armory and Apparelo are getting the axe, as they added way too much clutter and lag to the pack. As a note to this, are you planning on adding any weapon mods to mitigate the removal of PA? I know there were several different weapon packs in UOM, but I can't remember all of them.

Also, forgive me for not reading through everything, but are you going to do a similar sourcing style to what ninefinger did? IE: Listing all mods and providing links to said mods on one of the original postings / reserved spots? It was really nice to have them all in one location to look through.

As for the research tree, the only suggestion I had to it when Nine was still working on it was that the researches for certain things should be spread out more. The only one I can think of right now in particular is storage. IE: All storage research was locked behind Construction 4, when it would have made much more sense for the research to be staggered. I made a similar suggestion for medicine but can't remember my formatting for it aside from fixing some of the prosthetic stuff. Example Below.

Construction 2 = Storage 1
Construction 2 + Storage 1 = Storage 2
ect.

I'll be getting something like Rimsenal or Rimfire. Not something major, or huge. Currently leeing to getting Rimsenal then getting NIA to patch it for me... he did offer a patch for PA, so I'm sure he will do a patch for something smaller. Anyways, not now, but soon (TM).

I don't plan to have generic things like 'Consturction 1', but instead small researches for each building, forming a web (So you could go to things throu multiple paths to get something, kinda like whatz in the latest CIV.) Then have each research have minor researches going off of em (Like for example a powered smelter only smelt steal bars unwell you unlock the minor research 'Plaster smelting' or something.).

My main problem with the pack was Nine introducing too many crafting gates instead of sticking to raw materials. Basically all of the guns in the game were changed to a new system that required loads of crafting instead of using raw materials, and he was going to extend it to everything else when crafting already took way too much time.

His system went like this:
Steel Ore > Steel Bar
Copper Ore > Copper Bar > Copper Wire
Steel Bar + Copper Wire > Gun Parts
Gun Parts > Gun of Choice.

Copper Wire was also introduced to most electronic, lighting, and power systems, which with the limited early game storage options (and PA/ Apperalo filling every storage cell) made base creation difficult, considering it was a non-high stack item. (75 instead of 250-500)

Basically as I understand it, he was steering it towards Hardcore SK where crafting takes forever instead of focusing on bug fixes and compatibility issues.

My question with this, is that once you fix the research tree, are you going to revert this change, or keep it. I'll change steel to generic metal then do this:
Metal Ore > Metal Bar
Oil > Plastic + Synth Fibre
Metal Bar + Synth Fibre > High Grade Metal Alloy (HGMA)
Metal Bar + Plastic > Low Grade Plassteal (LGP)
LGP + HGMA > Plassteel.


A.k.a a total of 7 resources, should be manageable, and certainly toned down relative too HCSK. If it becomes to hard, I'll tone it down some more, only time will tell...

As for primitive weapons, they'll be made around a fireplace, with your grass/mud wallz and hunting grounds... basically I plan to make you as primitive as ze tribalz  ;D

Edit: Lets not think too far ahead, I still got many things to do... like getting weapons to work with CR...

PS: I'm lookin' at you, NIA... soon you'll have a list of weapons/turrets to make compatible..

The biggest thing with it was probably storage and the crafting time / ratios at which things were crafted, you'd have people working around the clock cutting clothing into textile strips, or you would have them making batches of 10 materials at a time when they could easily double that and not have to run around your base as much to drop it off over and over again.

IE: They would make 20 steel and 20 copper into 10 gun parts or something.

I'm just voicing my concerns as how the pack handled before so it doesn't get ridiculous this time around. It seems like it was made in mind for colonies that had no problems with defence and 10-20 people managing it, but I tended to keep my colonies small, and I'd rarely have turrets running.

For version 1.1, the Turret Collection is included, but has no spot on the modconfig. Is it not supposed to be used? Also, are the CCL Vanilla Tweaks unnecessary?

It's easy to see which thingDefs don't use CombatRealism (CR) classes since the large amounts of text added through the comps CR requires are easily spotted in the text file. obvious one is the modvariety pack is playable.

I am having trouble getting the Gentz pack to work.  I put all the mods in the mods folder, then ran the .bat file.  I don't know what CCL is.  When I try to run the game it says the mods are for a different version of the game or corrupted and they get automatically disabled.  Also I read that I should overwrite anything but I'm starting with a fresh install of the game.  Am I supposed to have the old UOP first?

I disabled the crash landing mod and played a few hours only to realize that doing so broke the smooth walls mod (the button never shows up after researching stonecutting).  Enabling crash landing fixes the missing button but then all this free stuff falls from the sky and quadruples my wealth.  No thanks, I'll keep playing with it disabled but who knows what else is borked.

It would be nice if crash landing was optional. Thanks for your hard work!

Odd. Are you aware of what version your using?

Edit: Also could you check to see ya have the latest CCL?
And upload the outlog when CL is removed.
And after removing CL from ingame could you please run the GetModconfig.bat and upload the Modconfig.xml file?


Tested on latest Feature Branch, worked fine after removing CL.

Try updating CCL and removing CL from the in-game menu, not tho the modconfig bat stuff.

If that doesn't work, try grabbing off the latest commit on the feture branch. I don't think it will help you since I haven't touched CL or Smothwalls, but maybe.

If that doesn't work, use the 'grabmodconfig.bat' and them upload the 'modconfig.xml' under 'mods\'. Then upload the outlog (not a screenshot of it).

I'm using CCL v0.12.4 and your semi-stable V1.1_A12. If disabling CL worked fine for you then I must have screwed up something on my end, i'll re-download everything and try on a clean install. TY


EDIT:  Re-installing fixed my issue.  I just saw the line in your main post in angry colors which said "ANY/ALL ISSUE YOUR GETTING IS DUE TO A FAULTY INSTALL."
