Title: [B18-A16] More Furniture

More Furniture is a small mod that adds in a new furniture into Rimworld under the Furniture+ Tab in the build menu.

   MF Adds:
   Compatiblity:
MF should be compatible with most, if not all, other mods. If you find a mod conflict, please report it so I can make it compatible. MF can be safely added into current games, but all new items should be removed before turning it off.

   Translations:
German and Russian. Feel free to request translations for your language.

Looks good! I really like the idea of using furniture addons to increase the bed stats, that's really clever use of vanilla mechanics!

One thing, the new straight back chair textures look a bit weird. The outlines are maybe too big/pixelated, can't really put my finger on it. Maybe a slightly smaller stroke and/or some blur?

Which view for the square chair (you called it a straight chair, but I'm assuming this is what you meant), side back fornt or all? I know the side view does look a little weird and I'll change that.

I don't think so, (as only one pawn at a time can interact with an object.) but as a balance the couch is more comfortable and pretty.

Just did a quick update. It added 4 more furniture pieces, square plant pot, end table, end table with light, and a smaller light.
You can just replace the older version with the newer, and it works without having to start a new colony.

Beautiful news!! I can't wait for this to be updated :D This mod always has the ability to make a colony seem more "complete," especially the rooms and room design.

One of my favorite designs is to use a half-wall mod and staircase mod in combination with this one, then make a large bedroom. After the bedroom's done, I separate the bed and furniture from a "lounge" area; making it look like a two-story bedroom!

I've updated the mod to Alpha 13, and changed a bit:
     * I removed the cot and small light because the textures where glitched, they may return in the future.
     * I added more furniture, like the cushioned chair, and ornate plant pots.
     * I added more 4 new carpets to match in game bed colors.
     * I fixed several old bugs, like the end table light not being turn-able, and being covered by the wall.

Hello,

it just me, or colonists usually try to eat using the dresser and the end table?
I saw some colonists eat over there and gain the status "ate without a table", but maybe it's because my bedrooms are far from tables and they became hungry.

Anyway nice job! Thanks for this amazing mod :)

Nope, the only issue would be a pop up when you load saying there mix-matched mods.

This is a great little mod and I love it! My colonists' bedrooms look like actual bedrooms now!
Might I suggest a 3 tile couch for consideration? Would be helpful for centering in front of televisions. (And for those of us who are weirdly OCD about how we place furniture in rooms orz)

I have only one issue, and thats that theres no research requirements and you get almost a whole page of furniture right off the bat. Maybe you could implement a couple researches required to get all the furniture?

   Well you can't really research the chair again....

...But I know what you meant, I could add more stuff that you'd have to research (for like production), but I feel like that really wouldn't go with the mod too much...

redacted. My suggestion doesnt work the way i thought.

You will indeed need CCLs facility injector to remove the need for having the core beds and research table in your mod. This would mean a reliance on CCL but would make the mod more compatible with other mods.

Hi. I think there is a bug with some furniture from your mod (specifically that drawer with the lamp on it; the error message appeared after selecting the object after being built). See attached picture. There was also another object that caused a similar message, but couldn't reproduce it again. Thanks

its that the info tab in the bottom corner has a set limit of lines and no scrolling capabilities, it will error if you go over this limit for whatever reason (too many comps).

Yep, but I can do much about it so I left it in, so the end table light works a intended.

That way i think you could have multiple users.

It's more workload for the player to place, but, I think if they are using mods already they are, well, up for it.

Good Idea, I've tested it out and the left/right Idea works. I should also be able Improve it with a center and corner piece, that way you can  create a couch in whatever size and shape you want.

The errors that you get are the "Could not resolve cross-reference: No RimWorld.StatDef names comps found to give to RimWorld.StatModifier" correct?

I'm not a modder, but I took a look and managed to stop these errors on my game.

in the file "Buildings_MoreFurnitureMisc.xml" for the SimpleResearchBench you have

Thanks, that was the problem. While I was updating it looks like I had copied the comps into the wrong area.

I like this stuff, but the beauty of some of them is too low. For example a normal marble stool has a beauty of 7. A normal couch no matter the material has only 2. At first I actually thought that was because I made a leather couch, but they are all the same.
It would actually be nice if some materials were prettier, but that probably has to be changed somewhere else.

In Detail: The dresser, end-table, end-table with light, filecabinet, when clicked to be built,
all face "north" with their frontside, eg. where the drawers are. So when placed they then
of course look kinda boring. Sure, you can rotate them, but for those who built for beauty
in "our" eyes (instead only for the colonists eyes' beauty), it is a bit tedious
(tedious sounds a bit dramatic though).

of course look kinda boring. Sure, you can rotate them, but for those who built for beauty
in "our" eyes (instead only for the colonists eyes' beauty), it is a bit tedious
(tedious sounds a bit dramatic though).

If i swaped the front with the back, then the menu icon would be reversed, and show no detal....

I applied some of the changes they made to A16 and pasted it to this version, and it seems to be working, i have no means to verify that though.
I just compared the defs from A15 to A16 and corrected the errors it was throwing, I'm no expert in this.

A minor tweak for dressers and file cabinets would be nice - a little more distinct boxes outline, now we can hardly see where boxes are facing. Otherwise its a damn awesome mod, beautiful, useful and not balance-breaking. Thanks.

Yes it has the "MF A16" folder, just not the extra "MF A16 v1.0.2" folder on top of that that it unpacks into. I tried moving it towards the top of the mods list but that has not helped any.

Edit: Oooooh I'm stupid. The MF tab inside the game xD Yes, it's there.. Sorry everyone :3 It's all there of course..

Please can I have an explanation of the "*Allow non-deadman apparel" setting in Dressers for the A16 release.

I am interested in allowing regular clothing (of a certain quality and repair level which I understand) in dressers in bedrooms but forbidding deadman apparel.

In addition, do items of apparel in the dressers (and equipment in racks) appear in the sellable list when an appropriate trader arrives?

EDIT : After some play time with the mod, I have been able to answer my own question about the non-deadmans apparel so thought I would explain the current behaviour in case anyone else has the same query.

The "* Allow non-deadman apparel" setting on a Dresser acts as follows... when set to true, the Dresser will hold both regular and deadman (D) apparel of the specified quality and repair status. When set to off, the Dresser will only hold deadman (D) apparel and will ignore regular apparel.

This leads me to a suggestion. Given that the Dresser (and end table) is probably intended to be placed in a bedroom and given that Pawns have a debuff when wearing deadman (D) apparel, would it be more appropriate to reverse the behaviour of the setting and re-label it as "Allow deadman apparel"? That would mean that if set on, both types of apparel would be stored and if set to off, only regular apparel would be put in the container, leaving non-desirable deadman (D) apparel in the appropriate stockpile.

I have still not worked out whether items in Dressers and similar appear in the Trader lists yet so clarification of that would still be appreciated.

EDIT 2 : I have worked out that having a different stockpile elsewhere with a higher priority than the Dressers that is specifically set for all the Deadmans stuff keeps the dressers free for filling with the good stuff. Issue resolved.

Go to MF > Click the Box Planter > Drag and design like how you design walls.

Ok, I get it. I think it would also be really useful and pleasing to have counters / racks for storing kitchen items. Most players have ingredients in the kitchen to reduce cook traveling time. Also I don't think items in a storage rack contribute to ugliness. It's a win-win.

It was a deliberate decision by author to hide clothing in a dressers, as far as I know. Because its not an equipment rack, its a dresser, so you put clothing in it, not over it.

So, I made a german translation for this mod. Except the Buildings_MoreFurnitureLights.xml file didn't work out. I translated it in the same manner as all the other def files, but that one wouldn't show up in german in the game. I don't know why. Anyway, the rest works.

This allows you to delete the research bench and bed defs from your ThingDefs, yet still have the facilities link.

This makes your mod then compatible with anything that also modifies those two def.

If you're interested, I can also whip up some patches for other furniture mods as they are updated to A17, and make them in such a way as to have them activate dynamically, based upon which ones are loaded.

Hey Anonemous2!

With A17, there's now a better way to add the linked facilities.

You can make a [Patches] folder in the top level of your mod folder and add and xml with xpath PatchOperations, like so;

This allows you to delete the research bench and bed defs from your ThingDefs, yet still have the facilities link.

This makes your mod then compatible with anything that also modifies those two def.

Here; have a better version of the patch code. This one has some checks to keep it working even if another mod completely overrides/butchers the base code, as well as dynamic patches for the beds from cuproPanda's Powerless and Rimrue's Tribal Essentials.

I'm not sure if the author is active on here anymore, I know we were lucky to get A16..

Buuuut this mod does work with A17, it adds an "Equipment Rack" with a big, red X through it.. Just don't place that and you'll be fine!

There is an A17 update on Steam... but the link to the non-Steam version was not updated (still links to A16).

Hello, I have a problem where there is no beauty for the Wooden Dressers.

That's very strange, because it says it has beauty in the description. Maybe this is a rendering error with the beauty numbers, and the floor beauty is showing above the dresser. Maybe try putting the dresser on a floor that doesn't have any beauty numbers below it. But it doesn't look like it, based on the beauty average of the entire room.

I don't think so. You can check the textures and stuff, but I am about 98% sure this just adds on. For example in vanilla you have an end table, now with this mod you still have that regular end table, but now also an end table with a lamp (perfect for bedrooms!).

I did have one issue with one of the end pieces of the couch not having a properly rotated texture, but it's something that's easily very fixable.

I've written a patch to make the beds from clutter, rimkea, and the bedrolls work with adjacency buildings from these same mods as well as change dresser and more furniture (this mod):
