Force the families to live in their own 'blocks' and if they do anything wrong, the whole family will be killed and the alpha male of that family will be forced to cut up their relatives... and cook them for the other families to eat. The last ones to survive get some nice human leather hats for their time. :)

What to do when A13 comes out...
I guess, one needs to start with ways of showing appreciation. Eat some raw corn, sacrifice a rabbit to the gods, train the dog to haul things, set up automated turrets etc.
Once that's done, I guess you turn on the PC and play the game.
Update my mods, then play a full game without them. (Except stonecutting tweak of course, that is essential.)
Start a new google docs mod list that hopefully will be stickied and updated by an active team If tynan allows it.
Lock my mod topics to avoid all the "update your mod" posts while I play A13 through an unmodded colony.
Then begins the fun of updating mods. To be honest, while A12 added quite a lot over A11, the code changes were fairly minimal compared to some other updates.

Pretty much this, without updating mods because I don't make mods. I'm still waiting for Tynan to make stonecutting tweak a part of the vanilla game.
Well, I think I'll also infect people with various parasites to see what that does, try to farm an underground insect hive for jelly(and possibly giant bug steak), watch my colonists interact with each other, and get more pets.

Hmm, first i will use my seed, then searching for a good place, take a screenshot, and choose 3 psychopath.
After that, building the great base no matter what and enjoying the new features and hopefully a lot of new stuff to build, research and see.
Every content update is just so great, love new stuff to buy/build/find.
Like seeing the firsttime the thrumbo, was just great.
I'll make animal kibbles with human meat for sure. And see want kind of dramas the relationship feature can create.

well its out, now to wait for the mods.
First game i got 3 colonist who would not do dumb labor ( no hauling , mining, building etc ) and so they died of starvation . LOL

Yep, same thing for me, Without mods like prepare carefully, edp interface, rim fire, etc the game just feels lacking too much to hold long term appeal.
I think you should try A13. It has tons of new content. TONS.

No amount of new content can replace the streamlined UI of EDP's Interface mod, being able to see my colonists in a bar at the top of the screen I've found makes it much easier to manage a half dozen or more of them without the frustration of trying to keep track of them manually.
Prepare carefully is also something I've come to enjoy, having grown bored with the 3 random twits every play through having done so for several dozen times back in A9/A10.
Being able to customize my start, and create interesting (and sometimes deeply flawed) colonists of my own custom design is what keeps me coming back for more. (I had a lot of fun remaking the crew of Firefly with Prepare Carefully and dumping them down on Rimworld to see how the story played out.)
