For the Steam version of RimWorld, exiting & restarting Steam will force it to check all your games for an update. This can be used to force-update RimWorld.
For the DRM-free version, there is a tool to auto-resend your email at https://transactions.sendowl.com/order_recoveries/new?merchant_id=3792 (https://transactions.sendowl.com/order_recoveries/new?merchant_id=3792).
You can always email our support expert Michael at
[email protected] and he'll sort you out ASAP.
However, to save your time, you may try these steps.
In 60% of cases, a spamfilter ate it. Please check your
email and spam filters for anything from [email protected] - that's the address used by our distributor.
In 30% of cases, the email was sent, but not to the address the customer expected.
Make sure you're checking the right email:
- If you bought the game off rimworldgame.com: The email goes to the primary email of the PayPal account that paid for the game, as it was when you bought the game.
PayPal accounts can have multiple emails; ensure you check the primary one.
- If you got it off Kickstarter: The email goes to the address on your Kickstarter account as of November 1 (when we copied the records).
If you can't access this email, or you want it changed, contact support at
[email protected] and tell me the before-and-after emails you want.
In 5% of cases, the customer used an eCheck for purchase but it didn't clear yet. The game is sent automatically when the check clears. It takes a few days.
In <5% of cases, something else happened and you'll have to email me.

I just bought the game a while back and when I went to D/L the new version from the link in the email it indicated one fewer "download attempt". I assume that will be changed at some point or it resets to 6 after a certain timeout?
It resets to 5 or above with each update.

I got the email on a somewhat flawed email site which deleted the email entirely after a few months. I downloaded the game, but it refuses to update. Is there something I'm missing, or will I have to re-buy the game?
when the next update is released, you should receive a email with a download link. I suggest saveing the link in your web browser.

before mailing, I thought I'll give the forum a try to solve my problem:
I'm not actually missing my download email, but my download... ;)
1. I have gotten the email with the download link from SendOwl.
2. I followed the link and my Browser opened the site. It said 5 download tries per file. Everything as expected.
3. I started the download for Windows and everything seemed to be OK.
The download counter decreased from 5 to 4 for the Windows version, while the other ones stayed at 5.
4. At 63% (43.1 MB) the download rate dropped to nearly zero. This is happening every now and then and related to my internet connection, not the download source.
5. I paused the download and did a reconnect.
6. I tried to resume the download multiple times but always received the error message: "The file can't be found on the server" (paraphrased).
7. I followed the email link a second time and the web site still said I've got 4 download tries left.
8. I clicked to download the windows version.
9. I was forwarded to a page saying: "There are no downloads left" (paraphrased)
10. I followed the email link for the third time.
11. This time the download try counter for the windows version has dropped to Zero, while the other ones still showed that there are 5 left. :o
So now I am stuck at 63% with no download tries left... I'm close to mental breakdown and already would be wandering around in daze if I would not still have the new colony hope... ;)
I hope somebody can help me! It would be horrible having to wait for the next update while having nearly exactly two third of the download finished! :'(

I'm just downloading the Alpha4e, but in the middle of download, the transfer crash without any reason (Internet shutdown, etc...).
I'm tried 3 times with Windows version and one time with the Linux version with the same result.

I have the same problem i think i have seen with other people...i try downloading gets to a certin point and then it comes up with a network error and stops working...im down to 1 out of my 5 downloads for the windows version.What should i do?

Got the game to unzip. I had to use winRAR to unzip rimworld. I tried windows 7 and Zip7 and those did not work. WinRaR 4tw!!
What email address does it yous? does it yous the pail pal email or some other email, and if so can you change what email the updates come to or is it just stuck on that email address forever?

the past alpha releases were all re-download, but as all the past versions were less than 50mb each it should not be a large imposition
The normal update process per alpha is, that you get a new notification from SendOwl, that a new version of RimWorld is available. This comes with the download link. Or you can reuse your old download link, as they are the same.
Also the used downloads at SendOwl will be reset to 5. That means that you have 5 new tries to download the new version. :)
I never even got the sendowl email, check all my folders, spam etc. What happened? when i first downloaded the game I did not get an email because I downloaded it directly after buying it. If it helps, i did not buy the game with Paypal, I used stripe.
you could also email tynan at his gmail address giving all the details from the purchase, and he will probably email you a link and add you to the sendowl emaing list
I think it went to spam, but must of been deleted, so I can't download the new updates, what can I do?
I switched email accounts and now I haven't gotten any download link for the new update. I didn't get one for the last either but I haven't checked in a while. And it isn't in the spam folder.
How long is the typical wait between buying the game and getting an email with the download link? I eagerly bought the game thru Paypal, got a receipt in my email, but don't have an email with a link. It's been close to 40 minutes now. Is this something that I have to wait to be manually sent? (I've been watching the inbox and spam box on the correct email address.)
Edit: Sent an email, was told the email with download link was indeed sent. Nevertheless, I do not have it anywhere. I got a link though, so all is well.
I just signed up to say thanks for sorting out my problem quickly, I felt like sending a response sayings thanks via email would feel a little spammy as im sure you have plenty to do (like develop a game ha).
it just so happened I was in the <5%, granted via my own fault.

Good Evening, After using Paypal to purchase, there was a splash screen that said "verifying payment, ... you may close this window if you don't feel like waiting". So I closed it. I verified that my Paypal primary email is the one I am checking, however I've not received an email that contains download information. Nothing in my spam box either. How long does it takes to refresh download times on a link with releasing of new version? I know, alpha8 just released, but i still got no email with refreshed link. Got old one, but there still 0 downloads for Windows. Maybe mail needs time to get to me? :) checked spam and all over my mail - still no mail. And my adress is for sure correct - cause month eralier i received all emails when i bought RimWorld.

I got the alpha 8 update, but haven't received any sendowl links for any of the 'hotfixes.' Were there any, or am I looking in the wrong place for them? I've checked my 'spam' folder, zippo from sendowl since the alpha 8 release. :/
I have not received any emails since the a8 email, BUT with 5 downloads on the link it SHOULD be possible to use the same link (which I keep in a browser link) to download the 8e version, and if you have managed to run out of downloads, then email tynan and ASK for a extension of downloads and do NOT use download accelerators/managers set to more than ONE attempt at a time.
