Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to announce my second small mod : Elysian Flags.
This mods adds EnterElysium's iconic flag to the game, in both flag and banner form.
Ever felt like your colonists could be part of something bigger? Allow them to be a forward colony of the Elysian Empire!

How does it work?
Simply send your best artist over to your local tailoring bench and instruct him/her to craft either a flag or a banner for your loyal colony!

Colonists can now use the flags and banners you make as a joy item, standing near it will allow them to salute the Elysian Empire!

A very big thank you to Bodog999 for making the Elysian Banner art! Without him I would have to spend hours trying to make a flag that would never end up looking as good as it does now!
Another thank you to Haplo for helping me figure out how to add a joy activity to the flags :)

Changelog :
V1.2

added an "unfinished" state for the flag, moved the recipe to the tailoring benches and increased the time required to make the flag / banner.

added a joy activity, allowing colonists to salute the flag & banner for joy.

This mod should have NO compatibility issues, and can safely be loaded into ANY ongoing colony.

Regarding Licenses and such
•Can modpack makers include your mod in their modpack?

Sure thing! Please send me a link so I can see the modpack for myself.

•Can other modders make derivative mods based on yours?
Go ahead, feel free to toy around with the little code there is. If you end up using the art for something, please do provide credit.

I'm a big fan of EE's stuff, and I've been around in his twitch chat for well over a year. This seemed like a must have for Rimworld!

On an off note, does EE know this mod exist? I haven't watched all of his Rimworld videos yet :(

Dugalle I've made him aware of it's existence and he noticed it just before his rimworld stream earlier, a bit too late to download it, but it's safe to assume that he will start using it at some point :)

I might make another Elysian Empire themed mod, maybe one that adds a couple of backstories, like "Elysian Colonist" as adulthood backstory, or maybe something like "Knight of the Elysian Realm".  Suggestions for other mods are welcome too, if I feel like I can pull it off and it could be fun then I might take a look at it.

For example, here's an idea of a background for like "Elysian Militiaman" or something :
"As [Colonist name] grew older, he became more patriotic and wished to defend those around him, and therefor decided to join the Elysian Empire militia forces, and was sent out on a mission to protect colonists that would settle a far away Rimworld. The colony ended up being overrun by a hive infestation, and [Colonist name] was the only survivor. [Colonist name] could never shake the feeling of guilt, and is now even more driven to protect the people around him"

Possible attributes could be +3 shooting and +3 melee, with a possible Research Disabled or something, because the militia isn't being paid to think.

I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on this!

One thing I thought odd about it:
You could maybe consider moving the flags from the sculptors table to the tailoring tables?

Ah, right. That is because I pretty much used the code used to create sculptures, except I got rid of the "art" button which would give it a randomized tale etc. I'll dig in and see if I can arrange that, because it does feel a bit odd. Perhaps while doing so I can wrap my head around giving it an unfinished state, so that you can see a little flag on the bench while it's being worked on

Updated the mod to version 1.2, the recipes are now available at either tailoring bench, the flag and banner now have an unfinished model and I increased the amount of work it takes to produce a flag/banner. Updating to the new version shouldn't cause any issues, but do let me know if you have any!
