Ohhhh!

First download!

And, I can finally stop micromanaging my builders!

So, how does this work?  If the thing being built has CompQuality, it does a check for skill level?  So anyone can build a wall but only the highest skilled can build furniture?

Edit:  nvm, it's a designator.  That's a good solution too, thanks for the mod!

Nice, I will try it tomorrow. I don't like when low skilled builders make furniture so I made some changes in furniture xml that it can be crafted on workbench and it used construction skill, and it worked. But your idea is better.

Try the Colony Manager, you get the option "allways use highest skilled..".

That is the opposite of what he wanted, he wants a second slider bar on the skill requirement to restrict certain jobs to people between certain levels, say lvl 0-5 crafters only

I haven't checked this yet but I believe all low skilled crafting benches fall under the "Crafting" job. So if you set your skilled crafter to only do tailoring and smithing and unselect crafting then only your lvl 1 crafters will do the low skilled crafting.

BTW, must have mod! Until now I've been using the area manager to exclude everyone else from a special zone that I construct furniture in that only my skilled constructionist can enter, which is a pain, especially when I use the area manager for other things too. And last game my skilled construction guy couldn't haul. Luckily my pets were always quick to haul away any resources from deconstructed crap furniture or minified furniture.

Thank you so much!

I'm thinking about comfortable useability. Do it's really good as designator in orders? Maybe it will be more usable as item command for unfinished buildings, like cancel and forbidding?

No reason it can't be both.  Just make the designator a "reverse designator" too.  That is how the mining works, it can be used as a designator from the architects tab or as a "reverse designator" by selecting something that is mineable.

I have the same issue of the button not appearing in the orders menu like in the top picture, but the enable/disable button will appear on each item that has a quality attribute and it works without issue

Hello! I am not getting this mod to work. I have no idea what could be going wrong. I'm using a number of mods so I don't know if I have something that is conflicting. Here are the mods I'm currently loading:

Core
EdBModOrder
Community Core Library
Community Core Library - Vanilla Tweaks
RW_EnhancedTabs-0.13.0.1
VeinMiner
Pawn State Icons
AllowTool
RW_Blueprints-0.13.0.1
RW_FluffyRelations-0.13.0.1
TilledSoil
LessIncidentTrolling
RW_PawnBar-0.13.0.1
ED-LaserDrill
AdditionalLighting-AdditionalLighting1.6
PowerSwitch
Confusion
ED-Moat
ED-Plant24H
RW_Manager-0.13.0.3
DoorMats-DoorMats1.0
kNumbers-0.4.1-A13
AssignableCrafting
M&Co. MMS
SkilledBuilder
MapReroll

I know the mod "Confusion" is not working, and I'm also using "AssignableCrafting" which also does not seem to work. I've tried them each on their own without the other (in case they conflicted) but neither seem to work. I have attached my output_log in hopes that it will help. I'll also be posting this in the thread for "AssignableCrafting".

Thank you for your time!

I can't see anything in log with my mod. But there is too many exceptions with Pawn State Icons, and some with unknown RimWorld.ThoughtWorker_SharedBedroom.CurrentStateInternal.

Try to remove SkilledBuilder and get new log.

I've been playing this save for a while, so some of those were up-to-date when I started but may not be now. Not sure about Pawn State Icons though. I appreciate you helping me troubleshoot though. I will keep trying!

That did it! It must have been one of those mods you mentioned being out-of-date, or my order was bad. I updated everything and put them in the order you listed and all appears to be working well now. AssignableCrafting is even working too!

Thanks again for your help and your patience!

Needs A14 update!
(and also this is one of those QoL type of things that should be included in the core game eventually)

Actually there are a lot of really good mods that don't break balance but just makes things better, less annoying ect.
I hope (and assume) Tynan is taking in the best ideas fur future versions.

So I was feeling adventurous and wanted to see if I could update this to A14.
Had a look at the modfiles, but it seems this is a dll mod.
I've got zero idea how to even begin updating this to A14. :(

I suppose DLLs are compiled like most code - and it is very hard to figure out the code from the compiled file?
In practice I guess that means we need the author to either update himself, share the code, or for someone else do re-do the work?

Either way I really hope someone gets on this. It is such a useful mod and alleviates a lot of inefficiency/micromanagement.
It helps so much when you can let many people help in the brunt of constructing but still let your expert do the important quality stuff.

I tested the download.

The download site has FREE and PREMIUM options - apparently their members get faster downloads without waiting 30 seconds and seeing ads of questionable SFW-ness.  Hmm...

The file itself is a .rar file with a typical mod structure.  Note that it *does* contain an Assemblies folder and a .dll file that was last modified today.  I did not unpack the .rar, but scanned it with Microsoft Security Essentials.  No threats were found, but MSE only looks for *known* malicious code and doesn't (to my knowledge) do any heuristics to look for potential malicious or unknown malicious code.  I didn't investigate any further.
Title: Re: [A13] SkilledBuilder (07.06.16)
Post by: Hatti on August 09, 2016, 03:03:16 PM
The increased file size could be cause it is a debug compile. There isn´t anything modified except the not correct decompiled source and of course modifications to work with A14.
You can decompile my and the original assembly to look at the differences if you wanna know

I uploaded it to ul.to cause i dont have a dropbox account.

i´ve done the work cause i love this mod and i love to watch spartyon7´s stream and she wanted this mod too.

I can understand the concerns about it. But who ever has trust issues dont need to download it.

Heres a Version with the modified ModHelperDef and the Assembly as a release build (which decreases the packed filesize from 13,98KB to 13,72KB. Just for all who are shocked about the HUGE filesize increase ;) )

Thanks for your work, Hatti. Unfortunately I'm doomed to have this mod not work in my game. Sigh. It still crashes, no matter the skills of the pawns.

Edit: I've tested it on both Linux (main) and Windows. The mod works fine on Windows, so I suspect the problem is something causing a SIGSEV fault on the mono runtime for Linux. Now I'm unsure whether to report this here, on the CCL thread or just to Tynan in general. :(

Sorry to hear, that it wont work for Linux / MacOS.

Here is a A15 Skilledbuilder ON Verison without CCL. The Designators in the Order menu are missing but they are available on selected building.

Anything I can do to help diagnose why?

unfortunately i dont have any knowledge about Linux or even macOS with Mono so i dont know where to start looking for either.
Have you tried the A15 Version of skilledbuilder yet? This version dont need CCL and only uses the detour class from CCL.

Which Linux Distro do you use? I may can test and reproduce it

I don't wanna try A15 until it's officially released because I like to play with mods too much. I use Linux Mint 18 x64 bit with Cinnamon. Unfortunately I have neither knowledge of Mono or Rimworld modding or I'd look into it myself.

Edit: Is it possible to revert to A14? Because if so I can try it.

Okay so I tried A15 with the new mod version. It still crashes. It's not like it crashes the game in normal play, it's when you designate something to be built by a skilled builder. The pawn will bring the resources and start building it then the game crashes.

As an Ubuntu 16.04 user I can confirm that this crashes to desktop in linux only. Works fine in windows (my other computer).

Let me know if what I can provide to help debug it.

Please check out this mod: QualityBuilder (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=25188.msg257433#msg257433)
its the successor from SkilledBuilder. I wont update or bugfix SkilledBuilder anymore

For what it's worth, I can confirm that QualityBuilder is both awesome and works on Linux (a15). Thanks for the new version, Hatti!
