I swear I saw this reported somewhere but wanted to make sure it's official because it's pretty bad.
If you capture someone, let's say, and you're bringing them back to a prison cell. If you mess with that bed like remove it or switch it to a non-prisoner cell it bricks whoever's carrying the character. Makes them completely un-interactable. Can't shoot, capture, talk, move them. Nothing.
Meanwhile the npc walks around like it's in the prison cell when they really aren't. So you can warden them but then have to shackle them then they might fight back and you eventually have to recapture them.
There are several variants to this that I've recorded. But this's the only one I remember off the top of my head. Unfortunately it might be some heavy code tweaks but the capture / insanity / arrest / etc. code has to be more robust. :(
Did you have these problems aswell? There are a few more.
corpse in prison room (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=1882.0)
Dead Captured raiders not able to haul body (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=1803.0)
I will try yours out and add it to the list. There is something messed up with prisons for sure (-:
Maybe we should shoot them instead of capturing them d-:
ha most of them DO get shot instead of being captured.
I haven't had the "corpse in the prison room" defect yet.
I usually can't get captured raiders (or even my own people) hauled in fast enough because they're dead too fast. (But I have to make sure my character's "hauling" is turned on). I usually keep people in 2-man groups so one can haul the other off, and that works fairly well. I just keep them far away from the turrets that love to explode. Almost no way to get to capturable raiders though. But if I have "hauling" turned on I can haul them no problem.
I can haul dead raiders just fine, I just have to make sure my hauling is turned on and that their interactivity is turned on. I can clean up the blood but only if I make it a "home" area.
But yeah this prison bed swap thing REALLY REALLY screws you. And I bet it would happen if someone was being hauled in for recovery and I deleted or otherwise fubar'ed up their bed also.
So when this happens, the game kind of isn't sure what to do and the hauler gets completely scrambled, and disassociated with your team (then leaves), and the hauled thinks they're in their room wherever they are so they can go and be captured again.
So you get an unclickable npc (that was the hauler) and the injured npc that needs to go be escorted back to their room again.
I think they just need to look at the "hauler" and have a catch mechanism for if he gets interrupted. Like
if bed not available, then pause.
else continue
complain there's no bed
go to 1
Something like that.
I will get into this later and try it out. At work now.
Thanks for the clear description
