yes steam is on, the overlay is on.

I'm a total newb at Steam, so I can't really help you there.
I'm going to assume you're on Windows, so you can likely (assuming Steam hasn't interfered) find a debug log in .\RimWorld1234Win\RimWorld1234Win_Data\output_log.txt
If it's there, can you upload it too?
A few folks and I had a steam discussion on the rimworld area about it; restarting steam seems to have fixed it for most of us.

Yep, apparently, that solved it.
Some steam hiccups, possibly...
