do you want me to send you my files where there is no errors, maybe look it over and see if you can solve the problem with ostriches cassowarys etc not working?

Please do. In the meantime, I've added most likely all the new animals to the mod. However, a look at your files certainly would be nice. Thank you all for your patience.

there you go..I added all the animals plus fixed the bird beak thing, and also the category (bodypartsandimplants doesn't work anymore) so there are no errors anymore also the trader bring the stuff..BUT some new animals still only show "euthanize" like ostrich cassowary megatherium. The remove bodypart works (cataracts) but e.g. add bionic eyes which should work for any animal, regardless the size, does not show up. Although caribou or lynx show up and they are new too..so i'm stumped I don't know what else could be the issue.

Hi guys

I just update DEsurgeries to A14. I was willing to do this one at least for myself.

I will look at it and try to help ;)

so I don't know if this helps or not, but ostrich, cassowary, turkey and emu seem to be under <ThingDef ParentName="BigBirdThingBase"> which is new, and megatherium seems to have <body>Human</body> not quadruped or anything. those are the animals that don't work right now. I don't know much about code though so i don't know what to do with that info... :-\

I'm at the point where the mod start and no bugs at all. (like your screenshots :p )

Now i will try to apply to new animals.
I wasn't know where you guys were so i started over from Latta's A13 version ;)

Now it's just a matter of copying all animals in RaceDefs and add the operation under them.

I'll try and come back to you

As i have updated DESurgeries (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=18976.msg236168#new) i saw that now the system has changed.

It's in the DefsRaces that you specify which recipes (in that case surgeries  ;) )  under each race defs.

Now i'm wondering if i should try to put the most of them in the AnimalThingBase in order to not have to add each recipe under each animals :p

ok so you mean all we have to do is add under every animal in all the race defs something like
    <recipes>
      <li>InstallBionicEyeAnimal</li>
      <li>InstallPegLegAnimal</li>
       etc etc..
       ....
      <li>ExciseCarcinoma</li>
      <li>RemoveBodyPart</li>
      <li>Euthanize</li>
    </recipes>
?

Yep something like that. In fact. Manage to put all the recipe in Animalbase.xml

So every animal is eligible to receive all of them. It seems to work (I'm testing it ATM) but all animal size show all the size of bionics legs and prosthetics.

I guess I'll have to check each animal def for just add the right size of bionics and prosthetics legs.

Plus it goes along well with EPOE and DEsurgeries without bug it seems

that's awesome! But don't forget that monkeys use bionic/prosthetic animalarms not legs! ;) (and maybe megatheriums too)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand  done !

https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/releases/tag/1.0

Click on Source code (zip) to download.

Also i have include your nice image for preview :D

In order to speed up the release i have disable the sized bionic and prosthetic for now. There is just one size now.

It was either that or release in 12-14h from now. As here it's 7 o'clock in the morning (i'm French ;) and i haven't sleep yet)

On another hand, did You guys take on you to maintain this thread? or i do another one?

Also did you know github?

Was talking about github because it is handy to maintain the mod together. Plus it as bug tracker (https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/issues) + wiki :p
Title: Re: [A14] A Dog Said... (Core-friendly animal surgery)

oookay..soo it seems to work mostly, but ostrich, emu, cassowary, and turkey can only recieve animal eyes (no pegleg prosthetic or bionic legs) and megatherieum also eyes and arms but no legs. Also the Animal Jaws seem to be missing completely from the mod (which is kinda bad bc w/o a jaw they starve to death ;P)

OK so I will look into that in a couple of hours. Now i know where it's done, it shouldn't be difficult.

If you know how and willing to help maintaining you can use the bug tracker on github I linked above.

And if you want I can add you two as admin to maintain bug tracking, maybe doing a wiki and such.   In a way you can't refuse as I have added both of you in the about.xml. :-p

Bionics Cassowaries Of Death - Update 1.0.1 (https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/releases/tag/1.0.1)
on Github (Click on Source code (zip))

AFAIK this should be totally save compatible, but be sure to completely erase the old folder (proper mods updating method)

- Big birds and Megatherium can now have artificial legs too
- Remove some useless files

As for now the two mods are getting along well together. But yes i have that in mind, it will be great to be able to add all EPOE implants/limbs to animals too. It is a feature that i want to have in ;)

I also maintain DESurgeries (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=18976.msg235885#msg235885) for the moment (a mod that permit to treat a lot of "bad things" with surgeries only) and my ultimate goal/dream is to made them 3 entirely compatible

Found an error, minor but still an error.
This mod is not playing nice with other mods.
I tracked it down to being caused from here somehow.
Hope that is enough info to help.

There's a new release coming up soon, so this could be fixed shortly. I'll add it to the Github issues to be looked at. Also, what is the name of the mod with the plants? It'd help us fix it faster.

so I just did a test with vegetable garden and our mod after that, there were no errors. So if it was us who is causing this it would show up as error. but like dismar told you in the vegetable garden thread you should look for a mod in your list that uses the plant def. that would probably be the culprit :)

Still looking for the culprit then. Though the error goes away as soon as I remove A Dog Said, guess it was just a mistake.

Edit: And now it's acting differently... It's not my day... But I will find the culprit, for my sanity.

okay..that is really strange we don't have any plants defs that could overwrite it..what other mods are you using and in what order? could you make a screenshot for me please? maybe I can recreate the issue then and perhaps help you out?

Going through each one right now. Listing all the ones that have a plants def.
So far that is Minerals & Materials, Noku Mushrooms, CorePanda. All of which I have disabled currently.

- Animal body parts have a specific category and texture (so you can tell they're not human body part in a glance)
- Added more artificial animal body parts (Look at the readme for the new parts list)
- Birds have ears now (because in vanilla it wasn't the case :p)
- fixed recipe in order to be able to replace birds beak with artificial jaws too

99% of the code (https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/graphs/contributors) in the update came from spoonshortage (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=50067).

Steam and forum post update will follow soon :p

Request: Can you split out the expanded body parts / prosthetics into its own mod? I like being able to fix various forms of damage on my animals, but don't particularly want a bunch of extra object types floating around. Similar to how I like DE-surgery, but prefer not to add EPOE an top of it. :)

I maybe try to do DESurgeries compatibility patch in the "not so near" future (i maintain DESurgeries too ;) ) but in the meantime i'll try to cook you something nice ;)

Exactly what parts would you like to get rid off ?
Or what parts would you like to keep : the ones of the 1.0 version (The human parts in Vanilla for human)?

I'd like to point out that you shouldn't remove and re-add the mod on the Steam Workshop when you update, this will unknowingly break peoples games as Steam doesn't tell you if a mod you are subbed to is removed.

Oops! Yep, Steam was being difficult with me about this.

Well, all the parts just added. To quote from the changelog:

So just a base "here are surguries + bionic limbs", then the addon "here are all the extra bionic parts" for people who want that.

I'm not really sure what you mean by a compatibility patch, though? I've been using both DE-surgeries and ADogSaid together without any problems.

Attention Steam users!
If you have not yet done this, remove the old version of ADogSaid by finding it in the mod menu and clicking "Unsubscribe", located below the preview picture.

Once that's done, use the new Steam link in the thread or download the non-Steam version. Thank you.

I was speaking about enabling DESurgeries surgeries to animals. But it's not something we even discussed as a team, more a personal idea as maintain both mods :p

I would certainly enjoy a DESurguries and ADogSaid compatibility for all the surgeries. If there is a vote for it, you have mine.

FYI for continuing a save you need to remove all megascarab leather as well as the old animal prosthetics.  Looking at the 1.1 version when you defined each race you set the Megascarab leather amount to 3.  A WAG from someone who doesn't actually code is that this made the leather able to spawn, but now that you shifted to the new method (inheriting the animal class I guess) it no longer defines the leather and breaks the save.  And now since I can't find the stacks of the stuff I'm going to go see if I can fix this by editing the save, oh yay.

That's right! Sorry about that, the megascarab leather was needed for a compatibility fix with the mod "Animal hides working".

I replied on the GitHub issueTracker (https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/issues/26)

Quote from: myselfOk, i checked some hints;

-Doesn't came from ADogSaid-EPOE : There is only crafting recipes in it. No surgeries.
-Doesn't came from EPOE either : On the screenshot it's wrote : Animal Peg Leg. It must came from ADS ...
-But .... In all of our code, we only use the word pegleg one time (https://github.com/kaptain-kavern/ADogSaid/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=%22pegleg%22&type=Code)

So the more I think/search the more I came to the conclusion it came from your setup @321nick. It looks like there is still some old (unused now since last patch) files in your ADS folder. Namely some ThingsDefRaces folder/files. But they're not supposed to still be here because we have changed the way the mod works.

Can you go to your mod folder and completely erase ADogSaid folder - with Steam closed (i'm guessing ... because i don't use Steam at all because of this kind of problems in fact). After lauching Steam again i guess it will re-download the mod (because of the subscription "thing") again and i hope this will fix it.

In fact, it was always recommended to completely erase old folders in order to update mods. Steam Workshop seems to not being able to understand this + it will break people savegames by autoupdating mods without prompting user

yep. you are right @kaptain-kavern. I just checked my own workshop folder for A Dog Said..
its in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\730360526\
and lo' and behold steam didn't erase the old races folder when updating... so everyone who had the old workshop item subscribed needs to delete their old folder completely and subscribe to the new one. Though I am curious how that happened because nattiejim uploaded it as new item and the folder ID should have been different than the old one... ahh well 10/10 would steam again.. >:(

lol ok...don't know what happened with the legs, but the ears I can explain: Birds don't have ears in vanilla, our mod adds them - so now your cassowary is supposed to have ears , but doesn't because they were never there :)

Since the EPOE mod has been moved to here, id like to point out that the organs cost too much and also sell for too much(i can earn like 3-4k of silver just from 1 unlucky raider) previously the fact of selling organs(before i modded the game with this) idea never came to me since the sell price was so low(500-1k silver from 1 guy). I also noticed that the bionics have also increased in cost(Bionic eye was 1500~ but now its 3000~ etc...) i guess its because to increase the use of organs, but what if we use that ridicilious amount of money on other things? Like building a really fast space ship, etc....

Notice
Hello everyone. I'm just writing this to let you know that I have resigned from the ADogSaid team due to an increasingly busy schedule.

Spoonshortage will be managing the Steam release from Alpha 15 and onward. It's been great working on the mod and I wish my teammates the best of luck with it.
