Title: Starship Wreckage Event
Post by: AHappyMuffalo on July 25, 2016, 07:02:17 PM
The Starship Wreckage is an event where between 5-20 ship chunks come out of the sky along with rooms from the starship. These rooms would be prebuilt by a developer and would appear moments before the ship chunks come down to make it look more destroyed.

The rooms vary between cargo holds, command decks, armouries, engine bays etc. and can parts can be salvaged by the player to build their own ship.

Cargo holds contain various items, sometimes food, sometimes steel or sometimes just random objects like statues or furniture.

Command decks usually contain a comms console, a few sci-fi looking chairs, and very rarely, the commander of the ship.

Armouries will almost always contain different tech levels of weaponry depending on what the ship would have been. If it was a poor trader ship, the armoury would have contained a PDW at the best. If it was a rich military escort ship, the armoury would have contained a suit of power armour or even a minigun.

Sounds cool. Could also make the ships explode on landing to give it that extra bit of realism.

You may want to check out the "Crash Landing" mod. Very similar idea, been around for a while now.

Does it have events for the later game ?

I have not played it for a while, but it makes for the most awesome starts :)

Parts of the ship keep raining down during the course of the game, yes. Can be adjusted, of course. I've had one of the most interesting games with this mod, but it's so hectic at the start and so many people die or get left behind that I decided the stress was not worth it. :)
