Turret Package
Description:The main goal of this mod is to add more powerful turrets to the later part of the game so that you can fight off the ever growing raider parties that are determined to destroy your colony. This mod adds five new turrets to RimWorld along with six new research topics. There are three new textures added to the turrets and two new projectile textures. The turrets range in size, from 2x2 to 1x1 depending on what I figured seemed appropriate.
Features:
- Improved Turret (An improved version of the improvised turret)
- Incendiary Turret (An R-4 rifle fitted to the turret capable of firing a burst of 4 incendiary rounds)
- Sniper Turret (A sniper rifle fitted to the turret capable of firing accurate shots over long distances)
- Grenade Turret (A turret made specifically to fire grenades over short distances)
- Heavy Turret (A heavily armored, fast firing beast of a turret meant to deal with multiple enemy at a time)
- Energy Turret (All the benefits of the heavy turret plus extra damage done by the energy projectiles)

How to Install:- Unzip the contents and place them in your RimWorld/Mods folder.
- Activate the mod in the mod menu in the game.
How to use:This mod works as soon as it is installed, nothing to difficult. To use the Improved Turret you must first research 'Armour Plating' and 'Electrical Systems' then research 'Improved Turret'. Once that is done you can then build Improved Turrets, Sniper Turrets and Grenade Turrets.
After those have been researched you can research either 'Incendiary Rounds' to allow the incendiary turret to be build or 'Weapon Systems' to build the heavy turret. Once the Heavy Turret has been researched you will be able to research 'Energy Weapons' and this will allow you to use the Energy Turret.

Maybe you could create a more endgame Energy turret modelled after the R-4, and then right at the end of the tech tree a mass acceleration cannon thats 3x3 and does massive damage AoE damage, but has a very long reload.
your acceleration cannon idea gave me tingles, consider it on my to do list. I an thinking custom projectile and sounds for that one too. As for the energy turret I am happy to hear you suggest that as it is also one of the things I have planned for the next release.
Really my only concern is that I don't want to add too many turrets to the game and I want to try to keep them as balanced as possible. As I said before though, that is where you guys come in as i tend to get a little carried away :P

Any way to make turrets feed off of a hopper like the Nutrient Paste machine?

Hey! i love the turrets! good job!
Looks great but I'm running into a small problem - none of the advanced turrets will actually attack enemies. They just sit there getting fired upon until blowing up.
Really? do you happen to have them sitting behind something? At one point during the testing I had them sitting behind a barricade (another mod I am working on) I was testing making and they would not shoot over them despite the fact the barricade was set to the same height as the sandbags

Very Interested. midgame raiders are wiping me out unless I use the laser turrets which seems overkill.

That's strange. Are you getting an error? or is it simply not downloading?

I didn't see a problem with it. It's kind of like a last line of defense. If you didn't want to put it back I was going to put it in myself. :) But if you want to toss it back in, I'd like it.

I'm trying to mod for a game myself- not Rimworld even though i've been thinking about that... -and i'm the artist of the duo, my brother does the code, doing both is not easy. xD

I had an idea. You should make a chain turret. The longer it has a target locked on and the more shots it fires, the more "warmed up" it gets; and the more warmed up it is, the faster it shoots. So it's slow and consumes a bit more power for its fire rate at the beginning of an encounter, but it's more efficient for longer encounters.
I think I'll try to make my own version of this, but this still seems overpowered. I mean I build one single sniper turret, and all raids with less than 4 enemies are easy, I don't even have to move. I don't even use other turrets, I just build the sniper turret immediately after unlocking and it's the first thing I go for. I build 3 more, then 10. Once I have 10, no raid will ever hurt me ever again even after day 1000 I bet. (at day 100 now) Rather silly really, and this was still when I was stuck on solar power alone because I couldn't get a trader to give me some uranium so I could make some steam vents.

-Lower sniper turret firing sound
-Nerf sniper turret
-Add firing zones to grenade turret

Sniping turret might need to be made larger, it's fairly small and you'd expect it to be a large turret. Maybe cut down it's firing time by half as well. Doesn't mean it'll be used less, I'll just put up a dedicated power plant and put 10 more up. xP More turrets just makes it a sort of tower defense game but anyway. It's nice to have more turrets.

what i would say is think more about how you want the sniper turret to work? do you want it to focus more on making huge damage in 1 hit? or doing small damage accurately.
if youre going for the 1st option, then decrease its rate of fire heavily, whilst increasing the damage. if its the 2nd then decrease the damage, whilst increasing the range.
you should also if youre focusing on the first option, to increase the size of it to a heavy turrets size. i believe you should keep the same size if youre going with the 2nd option
If possible I would like to see an artillery turret which has a pretty high shooting range and shoots projectiles which explode with the damage of 2 blasting charges and is able to shoot over walls/obstacles. And I know this could be hard to make

Would it be possible to have it where the grenade turret could have a longer range, but at the cost of having a "minimum range" where say, a raider gets close enough to it, and it can no longer fire grenades at them?
Just build my first energy turret and I think it's a liiitlle overpowered because it really mows down the enemys with his 12 shot burst. I think 6 to 8 shots would be more balanced out.

Actually I think it's fairly balanced. Mostly because say the third shot out of 12 kills the target. It still has to fire the other 9 shots to where the target was,gain a new target, finish charging back up(or cooling down, whichever you choose to say) and fire again. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I rarely get it to where bullets will hit an unintended target.

Thank you. But ... as soon as i use it together with the zombie mod, all zombies are equipped with Improved turrets as a weapon =/

Your update has still a few errors showing, i went ahead and fixed Kilroy's last version, iv'e got no errors. :)
If Kilroy doesn't want to update this mod, i would gladly re-release it, with of course Kilroy getting all the credits.

no, the version I uploaded in my post above is working with no missing textures. other than some small xml errors, it should work, could you give me the contents of your debug log? also, could you tell me your os, mods, and a description of what is missing/if needed a screenshot?
hello, it seems the sniper turrets aint working. I built two of them and raiders burnt them down without returning fire. anybody else got this issue? i use the latest alpha
hey nice mod. it also works with Alpha 4f.
but now my Problem. i tryed to build my defence inside the mountain. this room is 10 squares wide from left to right. now i build 5 energy turrets in a row from left to right, so you cant get through them. but they stopped Shooting. only way they do is, if i rebuild one of them. same Thing if i have only 4 of them and build 4 other Towers directly behind them. they dont shoot. only if i leave 1 space free. does anyone know why i have this Problem?

The Incendiary turrent is shooting to enemies but doesn't do any damage to them ???
When i re-worked the turrets package for alpha 4f, the sniper turret worked fine, so im guessing this does need an update posted.
I'll post the updated veersion later today, so you guys can have sniper turrets again, i was thinking of adding my artillery cannon turret to this mod, i'll send Kilroy a message to get it underway asap.

Hey guys, I read a lot about this mod and wanted to give it a shot but I appear to be hitting a massive issue - When I have researched all options - I build a sniper turret / Heavy turret and Incendiary turret and when my minions are done completing it simply de spawns and im left with nothing.
Am I missing something massive here?

You need the new version, this version is old and only for alpha 3.
