Title: A Letter Home.
Post by: Cavinaar on September 17, 2016, 02:49:46 AM
Mom,

I know it will be a long time before you read this, but I thought I would write you just the same (besides, it keeps me sane).

After a rough year, we have finally managed to get this place livable.  Keuneke mines like a machine and the way he throws things together is a sight to behold.  Isabel insists on doing all the cooking (one taste of Kumi's cooking and Isabel instantly banned everyone from the kitchen).  Yan has gotten so many crops together I don't think we will -ever- run out of food.  Keuneke literally had to expand the freezer by the end of the year. Kumi, I think, has a secret competition going with Isabel to see if she can keep ahead of her butchering animal corpses (so far Isabel is winning...I don't think Kumi has worked out Isabel always will win because the kitchen just happens to be right next to the freezer).

Me, I spend most of my time in the research lab cooking up new ways of doing things.  Just last week I worked out how to get a smelter going on this rock of a planet. As soon as Keuneke took one glance at the plans he snatched them out of my hand and stared building one.  Since then we rarely run out of steel (which was a problem for almost the entirety of the first year).

On a more social note, Yan and Isabel finally tied he knot last week (I know, I know, you don't like those old fashioned terms...but I do so deal with it). As expected we didn't see them after that for nearly three days, even then it was only long enough for them to grab meals and head back to their bedroom.

Something rather funny, yet sad at the same time happened a couple of weeks ago.  A local tribesman decided to try to raid us, but Keuneke had recently walled in that part of the base with marble.  So the tribesman kept beating on the wall, for days.  Keuneke just kept running down and repairing it when the tribesman would start to break through, then a bear went nuts and nearly mauled poor Keuneke.  He recovered, but all the while the tribesman was beating on the wall.  He finally breaks through only to realize he hasn't eaten a thing in days and just turned and left literally within a couple of seconds of finally breaking down the wall.

Well, that's about it for this letter.  Hope you are well and tell dad hi for me.

Tyler,

when are you coming home! me and your father have been sick with worry ever since you ran off with your so called friends. we have been waiting for contact off of you for months and had feared the worst, its nice to know that you are coping on your own but please come back home sometime as we are both very worried.

I hope you have been well otherwise, and we always knew you were a smart kid ever since you started building all those little science projects. say hello to Isabel for us and tell her to speak to her parents too, they are nearly as worried as we are.

While you have been gone you're grandfather unfortunately passed away, we know you were very close to him and hope that you can come back some day to visit him at least one more time.

Forever in our hearts
Mother and Father xxx
