Title: game crashes periodically
Post by: robottoast on January 07, 2017, 04:53:02 PM
I have a bunch of mods loaded that all worked fine on a15 but now something has changed and my game has started crashing every 15 or so minutes. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Here is the error log when I start the game back up and reload my last save: https://gist.github.com/c518fa0be4f8247f266dab9711ccf4fa

nothing much of interest there. You'll have to get the output_log _after_ a crash, _before_ a reload. That means you can't use HugsLibs' 'share' button on the logs I'm afraid.

This file should be here;
[RimWorld]/RimWorldWin_Data/output_log.txt

Where [RimWorld] is the location of your RimWorld installation, for steam that would be something like Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/RimWorld. If you have a non-steam version, you probably know where you put it.

This is the most recent one in that folder (after a game crash.) What happens if I delete those folders?

Youve simply run out of memory, A16 has an issue with memory thats being worked on, for now large modpacks will suffer, nothing you can do bar lose some mods until its more stable.

oh damn, I have tons of free memory on my drive though? Is there anything I can do to change to allotted memory? Or a site/program where I can test my usage when I start a new game to make sure it doesn't happen anymore? It completed screwed over my old save and I can't even load it anymore  :'(

Do you mean your page file? Or are you perhaps confusing hard drive space with RAM (memory)?

As far as I know there is not a lot players can do about the memory issue other than to reduce the number of mods they are using, and save the game very often using multiple different save files (in case one of them corrupts). Shutting down non-essential O/S tasks will likely help a little as well, but ultimately players will probably just need to bear with this problem, and work around it, until it's dealt with at source via a patch or future release.
