im missing the launch pad to use the comm to trade with. how can i fix this
As off alpha3 Rimworld no longer uses a launch pad, it now uses an "Drop Beacon" if i remember correctly
but when i go to comms it says place down launch pad with a stockpile close to it

Did you put a stock pile in its range?
not sure will have to check i know there is one not far from it
