Title: Question about A17 save compatibility
Post by: thatnickguyy on May 24, 2017, 03:48:42 PM
None of my saves are loading from my 100 hour colony! Will there be a compatibility fix?

I'm afraid saves are not compatible between A17 and previous versions, and there will not be a compatibility fix to address (or at least there never has been for any previous new alpha). So you will need to continue playing A16 if you want to keep playing your 100 hour colony. (A17 isn't going anywhere so if you are enjoying your current game I would personally finish that game and then update to A17 to start your next game. But that's just what my decision would be).

Edit - I have edited your thread title as it wasn't very informative.

What the f--k?!?! What is the point then to sell a game players will never play properly? (by that I mean not having to start every single f--king time)

That sucks. It's bad development. I want my money back.

Remember that RimWorld is still in Alpha. Please understand that a game in Alpha (or Steam's Early Access) will be changing constantly. During alpha for any product, game or otherwise, features very well may change to such an extent that backwards compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

You can always continue playing on the previous alpha version to finish a game before upgrading to the next version. If you're not sure how to do that just ask.

Then request a refund if you still qualify for it or wait until the game releases, otherwise you paid for an early access title and as such functionality changes should be expected.
