Title: Roads and Rivers largely in flat locations
Post by: Topper on May 25, 2017, 12:19:53 AM
I think its a shame these new features are largely created where most players do not choose play. I understand the desire to have a "realistic" planet geography generator but perhaps we can have a click box to allow more unrealistic rivers and roads in small and large hilled areas? Its not even a matter of choosing between the two options as playing in flat land is significantly more challenging, which is a turn off to more casual players.

I actually find rivers to be a huge geographical advantage. I've already used it to deter more than one wild fire from burning down my wooden huts :D

I don't think mountain base playthroughs need any more advantages than they already have...

My first colony I settled on stone road with major river in mountanous region. And I dont think mountains and roads/rivers go well together. It basically just generates the map normally, and then forcibly puts down the river/road.

But imagine how cool a river or road going through a mountain would be!

I found a mountainous map with a river cut through it that was awesome for defense. They do exist! :)

I choose mountainous/valley maps with roads and rivers for my last colonies. And I don't regret it.

I actually usually do play the flat lands - but I also have been doing multi-colony, and using the smaller colony as a mining base to get materials, when I'm actually that far along - A17 is harder, but more forgiving for minor mistakes in combat.
