Title: [A11b] Resource Compression ( July 04, 2015)

Resource Kompression Mod

The Kompression Mod is a mod focused on adding ways to store your resources.
    Additions:
    1) 3 new recipes.
    - You can now turn steel into plates on a machining table.
    - You can also turn those steel plates into steel cans.
    - Put 5 of any kind of meat in a steel can at the butchering bench to create a meal can. Do the same with vegetables.
    These high-tech compressed food cans never spoil.
    2) Two new workstations: The resource packer and the Food packer.
    - The resource packer allows the player to create crates of resources like steel or silver.
    Gather a stack of the required resource and six steel plates to a resource packer, and you'll have a nice and shiny steel crate with your resource incide.
    If you need to unpack a crate, you can change your packer to unpacking mode.
    - The food packer works the same but with food.
    3) Resource Alterations:
    Resource and food crates can be sold to and bought from traders as commodities.

Well, I'd be glad to put together a little compatibility thing between BetterPower+ and this mod :) But as for just adding things rather than replacing the entire thing, I'm afraid I cannot help.

Updated to version 1.01
Added Meat crates (human, squirrel, boomrat and muffalo)
Changed Mre into meal so it can be now normally stored

This mod has been immensely useful.

Are there any plans for silver or metal crates? Silver in particular takes up a lot of space after awhile.

It might be neat to have 2x2 pallets for aesthetics too.

I can do silver and metal crates, thts not a problem, prapobly i can update it with them today.
But i cant do 2x2 pallets, im not sure how to change size of resource, in matter that it would be read by colonist and the stroing zone, since for now i can only change normal size but AI still store them square per square.

(But storing them would be ridiculous... who would store them?)

Did add silver and metal crates, but i think thers need to be a new system to make them.
Silver crates are made from 3000 silver and metal ctates are made from 1000 metal, problem lies in crafting them, since colonist take only max stack, so in case of metal its 75 so its 1000/75 which is 14 runs for resources.
Silver on the ot her hand have 400 stack but the craft limit is 75 so i had to make colonists to take 75 silver per resource run or you would be spammed with some wierd console message thats the recipe require more than 75 silver, and this is around 41-42 resource runs for a colonist.

If you have some ideas to that im all ears :D

My idea's:
1:intermediary products(bottle of cola,6-pack,Big pallet full of cola crates)
2:an actual structure(building,Box)
3:make them haul more?(.dll)

4:Make it a feature it always works;)

I was imagining the 2x2 pallet as a building, actually. It could take 4-8 crates or so? It could be a more permanent form of storage and... well, look pretty. :p

Thanks for adding the metal/silver crates. Like iame mentioned, intermediary products might work for reducing the number of trips. For now I'll just place the workbench(es) right next to my silver/metal stockpiles to reduce colonist strain.

As for now im kinda tiunkering with traders, it might be that i done something wrong but there are some problems when you actually try to buy some crates from them.

What's your line of thinking on the silver bars? Will there still be a way to spend/use them, or will they basically be inert/unusable?

I've noticed MRE's don't have a pop-up menu. I can't force my colonists to haul them because of this. Also, do you think you could get colonists to prioritize simple meals over MREs (like how fine and lavish meals are prioritized over simple meals)? MREs are 5x as expensive and don't spoil, so I'd prefer not having to smack my colonists' hands when they try to eat them instead of the simple meals. :P

Yehh meat crates, thinking of adding one more meat crate and food crate foor various mods food, that would be only packlable.
Will also add silver something and prapobly metal something in between vanilia and silver/metal crate crates.


New version with fixed buying from trader, was trading for 2 hours now and i didnt get any error so it should be fine, but im not sure what was wrong:D

Hi,
Tried out this mod and it's great.. Loving it.
However, I noticed that there is no option to unpack agave fruits.
Am I missing something?

Resource Kompressin doesn't seem to be compatible with BetterPower+  mod. It doesn't cause an error or crash, but some stuff in Resource Kompression mod doesn't appear.
I suspect the TraderDefs conflicting with each other.

Well, I can sell and buy crates, but can't unpack crates other than food crates. I bought metal crates and it just sit there. In the first post "Screenshot" there are two tables, I have the left one and can't find the other one, so I'm assuming it's missing because of mod conflict.

No its my fault did disable entire bench since weapons crafting is bugged and forgot that metal crate is on that bench ;p

Will update the mod in a hour or two with fixes, and add some Jerethi50 updates

I can't seem to be able to pack mufallo meat.
I have plenty of it (something like 5 or 6 full stacks) and they don't pack it.
I've noticed that the muffalo crating recipe is different, it doesn't require metal ?!

Could you check this out ?

Just updated, thrugh atm no new meat crates for new animals, ateast until tynan will update core art download.
And unfortunetly weapons still as a resource will still not work in a6 :/

Anyway guys i did make stone block, im not sure if its in the current version becouse  i just get lost on my desktop to :D

Nope you can stack 75 crates on a square, thats why crates takes only 75 resources.

Ok lets make it simpler.
1 crate = 75 resource
crate stack size is 75
single square with normal method can contain 1 stack of resource.
so i.e.  one square can contain 75 steel or 75 steel crates.
if square contain 75 crates it means it contain 75x75=5625 of a resource.

ahh now you have explained it, it is a little unclear. Might want to explain the that in the description that the stack is 75x75

I use it personally, when you're in your upper years in a colony and don't have much space or too much resources.

Animal furs and human skins crates? :) Or a sort of "battery crate" with a limited energy? For long solar flare. it's true, im dumb :/

Battery crate wont work since solar flare is added to power grid so even having charged batteries wont change the thing that stuff just wont work :P(it would require recoding alot of things)

Animal furs and human skin is possible depends on my research in  butchery recipe workings :D

Will this be updated for Alpha 9 or 10? This was one of my favorite mods back when I was playing Alpha 6.

0% .. forgot sorry guys, had alot stuff happening, um and you can blame Shinzy for it :p

Anyways im willing to do it, but i would need some ideas, mostly on the traders side and boxes side.
Stuff like should boxes have a option to be manually opened(via Float Menu) with some resource loos?
Should there be separate trader for boxes, or other means to get rid of them for silver ?
And eventually other ideas you could have :P

hahaha, did this exist in A4 too? I am pretty sure it did.

I had edited the files to give a bonus in unpacking.
I used to buy ALL the boxes from traders..
unpack..
sell everything BACK to the traders :D

Good little sweat shop I had going on.

i would have only the bulk goods trader carry and accept packed goods, and the pirate trader carry em but not take em. since the ones they have would be stolen.

yeah, that would make sense. force the crate open, but you loose the crate and, say, five to ten units of it's content?
