Title: [MOD] (Alpha 4) Dresser (v.0.6.1 - June 17, 2014)
Post by: Joretap0 on May 13, 2014, 01:12:21 PM
Dresser

Description:

This mod add some items that allow you to change your colonists apparence.

Items :
You'll need to research "Dresser Lv1" to build the dresser and "Haidresser" for the haidresser.
"Dresser Lv2/3" researchs are not used for the moment.

Action List :
Only vanilla's apparels are availables yet, but i'm sure that the community will make some new apparels pack soon.

See in this post attached files for an adding apparel example mod if you wan't to create your own apparels.

Texture are temporaries, till i'll find someone to make me good textures(i'm really not an artist).

Due to lack of time for the moment to finish my work, uploaded temporary version of the mod compatible with alpha 4.
All the crafting system work, but the dresser don't need the items to equip colonists, so you don't need to craft item for the moment.
And I don't make lot of test with this version, so i can't certify that it's bug free.
Know bug : Some bugs with the colors in preview, but final result is as asked

Version 0.7 advancement :

This mod is under devellopment, and has not been tested with all others mods, so don't forget to backup your savegame file before activating it !

Installation Note :

Always delete old version of the mod before installing new version, cause it is possible that some files as been removed/renamed and that will create conflict !

ChangeLog :

Finally I find the good method for refreshing pawn graphics, my major problem is solved and the mod will be really more bug free ;)

I'll have to keep my eye on this, though I was hoping Tynan would put something like this officially in the game.  A way to make clothing using animal skins and other resources or buying resources (such as cloth and dyes) or clothing off merchants.  But anyway.  I guess technically Tynan can do the lazy way and let modders take care of what people want while he focuses on the core of the game.  xP

actually that's what i would like most look at minecraft,
It has NOTHING AT ALL  but a huge modding community...
and because of that the game is very very flexible.

My first idea was to use textile crafted with something like a loom and some plants, like hemp(that already grow in my plantations - a part of my next mod ;)), but using animal skins will be good to ;), and dyes could be obtained from flowers.

This is just the mod I wanted :) I was going to suggest it before but then never did. Just like in The Sims I want my guys to be looking all cool and snazy. Also add a mirror for chaining hair.

Just a little screenshot to show you what you will have tomorrow, perfectly working now, just need to add the hair to the preview and make some final test... But it's to late for now(4.51 AM here), so it will be for tomorrow!

Consider me extremely interested.

Query; would it be at all possible to include new outfits, if the graphics were provided for you?

All apparels objects added by mods should be automaticaly shown in "change clothes page", but i don't have test that yet, cause there no mod with custom apparel.

And if you send me textures, it's with pleasure that i will create new apparels objects.
Don't forget that textures should be in B/W(see in "Things\Pawn\Humanoid\Apparel" from the RimWorld core art source (http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=2325.0) for examples)

I'll post soon an adding apparel example mod.

Note that if you can provide me good textures for wardobe and dresser(and other furniture if you want), i'll can replace the temporary one that i use ;)

So cool.

Alright, I'll give making those wardrobe graphics a shot. After that, I'm going to sprite up some of the armours and such from Unreal/Quake Characters, since I've been wanting that for my mod anyway.

Edit; wait, before I make the dresser... just had a thought. Are you familiar with the Clutter mod? It adds dressers and lockers that are currently just decorative. Perhaps you and Mrofa should work something out.

Like you can see on the screenshot, i've got clutter mod installed, and yes it will be cool if i can link some of this furniture with my mod.
Title: Re: [MOD] (Alpha 3) Dresser (v.0.5)
Post by: Joretap0 on May 17, 2014, 12:09:22 PM
Version 0.5 available : you can now change your hairdress ;)

There's also a lot of code optimization, and i start to include research, that now needed to build items, but not for wearing apparel.

Vanilla's apparels are now overridded to add the properties "researchPrerequisite" that will be used in next version to able pawn to wear apparel.

New Apparel Example mod as been updated yesteray, that's why that's the v2 now. I also replace comment of random color section where i made a mistake.

! Delete the old version before installing this one, cause some files has been removed/renomed !

I must write function to print list from game database, and it's can take time if i need to analyse everything, so tell me which lists you want and i can make a effort to make them.

I've ever think to that, but that will be really harder to do cause they're not existing in vanilla game, there 2 textures set in vanilla(CowboyHat, M1Helmet), but they're not used yet.

Only the two huh... Well I was taking a look at the art resources Tynan put on here a while ago (that's what made me think of it actually) and there are a couple more (including a power armour one  ;D) so with any luck they'll make it into the next release.

Love the mod, but ...

1. I realized that i only need to research lvl 1 dresser to have access to lvl 3 clothes. Is it by default? do i get the looks but not the protection or something?

2. I have 2 itens with the same purpose: Wardrobe and dresser. Why?

3. I realize I'm able to select one type of clothes for each tier, and selecting armor in the last one overlaps all of then. So, if I select the tier one with +3 armor, then select tier 2 with +3 armor and then the body armor with +30 armor, do i get 36 armor bonus in the end?

All my male colonists are bald now. :D

1 - Yes it's normal, research will be activated in a next version
2 - Wardrobe and dresser are same item, just choose the one you want ;)
3 - Actually, power armor can be use with other tier, so yes armor are cumulative.
I know that can be use like an exploit, but it's your choice to "cheat" or not, this problem will be solve in a next version.

I'm working on clothes crafting for the moment. (Cotton plantation and loom to craft textile ever finished).

Till you not use it to create another dresser mod, there's no problem.

As I say on another post, crafting clothes is ready, sewing machine automaticaly scan for clothes recipe, like that everyone can add apparel compatible with the mod without editing sewing machine(will create a tuto on how to add them).
I "just" need to finish dresser integration of crafted items and i will release the alpha 4 version.

Edit to avoid double post : I have edited main post, and added my to do list advancement for next version, like that you'll see where I am, i'll try to update it till it's finish(i hope in 2/3 days, depending on my free times).

Eagerly awaiting an update to this. Just throwing that out there.

Keep up the great work!  :D

(Also, balanced or not, I might prefer being able to use all the features without any of the research or buildings/workbenches. Or basically just have an optional version that does not require any of that while the primary version still does. I'm mostly interested in using the mod for cosmetic changes/adjustment so I can feel more attached to my colonists, both the starter ones and the ones I pick up along the way, without having to try to fiddle with manual save file editing. Don't bother with any of that if it slows the release of an update, though!) ;)

...also, does anyone else have a bad habit of, when a friendly faction visits, really liking one of them and arresting them to add to the colony even though it makes the faction your enemy? I keep doing that.... My colony never has any friends. ;D

Sorry for retard, bad week at work, to much extra times, so not enough free time to work on mod :/

EDIT : Due to lack of time for the moment to finish my work, uploaded temporary version of the mod, all the crafting system work, but the dresser don't need the items to equip colonists, so you don't need to craft item for the moment.

EDIT 2 : New update, removed possessed item control from the dresser(forgot that i ever activated that)

YAY. You just made my morning. :) Thanks for the temporary release! Now I can finally get my colonists naked looking spiffy and get rid of any ridiculous hair styles.

And don't worry about it. Life intervenes sometimes. Everyone has their bad weeks or unconducive circumstances. As a modder, you don't exactly have any responsibility to complete or update your mod by any specific time. We can just be grateful for the work you CAN do, not judgmental for any work you don't do or any lack of promptness.

Looking forward to future releases!
