Title: [Request] Skill decay/training machines
Post by: sorenson on June 05, 2014, 12:46:17 PM
Hi,

Would it be possible to modify the skill decay in a mod to disable it, or decrease/increase it? Maybe a delay in the decay process starting? Something like if you don't use the skill for X amount of time it begins to decay. I know I'd like to tweak this, especially for the passion levels. It seems like skills with higher passion levels should decay more slowly.

Also, would it be possible to setup training machines that directly train skills? I know they gain by use, but that's not always practical. I'd assume that they'd be less efficient than actually doing whatever trains the skill naturally, but it could be handy to have.

Speaking of skill decay, I think there should also some sort of passion decay. If someone has not done something he's passionate about for quite a while, he would lose that passion, albeit slowly.
Also, perhaps, colonists chatting could 'spread' passion. For example, if an oaf (having no research passion at all) hangs around with a researcher (having a high research passion) a lot, the oaf could have some sort of passion upgrade on research. Something like, "Hey, he talks a lot about researching... Maybe I could have a go at it."

This could also be expanded to "encouraging" nobles to get off their butt and at least haul something.

There's a skill decay? I never knew...

and about the training machines: THEY NEEED TO BE A REALITY

also, what if there was a way to take away a person's incapability to do something. Say randomcolonistA is incapable of social, firefighting, and violence. If they hung out with randomcolonistB with very high social, eventually they would lose their inability through learning from randomcolonistB. And for violence or firefighting, if randomcolonistA saw enough people die or got lit on fire enough times, it wouldn't matter as much anymore and they would just try to deal with it.
