a fishing economy, would this be possible? I'd be willing to help if this is the case. I know there is no water currently in the game, but is it in the code?

Well "water" isn't exactly hard.. You can just create an impassable "wall" that looks like water (Ive already had this idea) however fishing is a bit more complicated. First you would have to make the "wall" randomly generate random fish after receiving x amount of work from a pawn.

Secondly you would have to add an entirely new skill to the game, or at the very least add a similar functionality as "research" to the "hunting" skill or something.

Definately needs a lot more knowledge than what I have, but it could be doable. I doubt however many modders would put in such a lot of work for such a small feature... You never know if someone has nothing better to do haha

A very basic fishing job would be as simple as finding a square at the edge of the water to stand on for a while, and then at the end having a chance of spawning a fish. Maybe you could create a fishing area, similar to a growing area, that could only be placed on squares at the edge of the water. Every so often those squares could create a fishing job that needs to be done. I've never actually looked at the growing area code so I'm not sure exactly how it handles it, but I'm sure someone could come up with a way of making something like this work.

really great responses guys! Thanks, it give me a lot to think about. I think it would fall in under the hunting skill set.

well by moddig one could create a Fishtank and maybe using vegetables feed and collect "fish" for the kitchen
