Title: [mod request] Realistic steel production
Post by: henk on June 06, 2018, 11:32:58 AM
It really bugs me that one can just use empty fists to "mine" a ready-to-use steel. Would be cool if someone could make a mod that:
- removes mineable "steel ore"
- adds mineable iron ore
- mineable coal
- crafting of wood into charcoal
- smelting iron ore into iron
- smelting iron and charcoal into steel
- replace steel with iron in most of the basic (ex.: non-electric stuff) recipes

Doesn't look like much, but I have no idea how to do that...

Play HardcoreSK. Or Superior Crafting, if you want less of the "throw everything* in a mod."

*Everything being hyperbole, it is just a lot.

edit: and apparently now this: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=41673.0
Should be just what you are looking for. No idea how well it is balanced, but being new, I'd expect quick changes if the balance is too far off.

Not quite, but still better than vanilla. Thanks.
