Hey all, so I'm working on testing Alpha 5 and I could really use some help! If you're interested in testing, finding bugs, finding repro steps, and submitting them to the system (and answering my questions about them) please just post here stating so. If you have any relevant experience that'd be good to know too!
Obviously I'll prefer if you actually own the game.
Thanks all!
Call is closed now, thanks all.
I'm game, though I have zero experience bugtesting. I can promise to play for hours on end and try my best to push the game to its limits, and be around on the forums to report about it and answer questions. Dunno if you're looking for that, but I'll put it out here anyway.

You're in, my man. Check the public tester forum.
So then this is my application to be part of the "alpha 5 testers group".
I've taken part in several beta tests for PC games and i'm aware of the time and effort it'll take to report some bugs and play the "unfinished" versions of the game.

just asking - private testers are able to get Alpha 5?
Hey, I went to college for C# (for all the good it did me finding a job lol) so ive got bug hunting experience. Done some beta tests for games too. I was going to write up a big review of the current version but seems silly now that 5 is on the way. Would be fun to give it a shot and then do my review.

Of course... you posted a bug from it earlier today didn't you?

yes that's right - i will pm you
btw, i just got the game a few days ago and already talked a friend into getting it. we love it
I'd love to help test I have some experience bug testing the elder scrolls online beta
I am always open for bugtesting games.
I am willing to help. I have bug tested many games and try to give my input as much as possible. I do own a copy of the game. I appreciate the offer you are making. Good luck.
Reisman17
I'd be willing to bug test. I've bug tested iOS games through TestFlight and I've bugtested a few PC games made by different people. I'd be willing to dedicate a few to several hours a day trying to find how I can break stuff. My friend also uses me to idiot proof maps on his server. Plus I really like this game so far and it's peaked my interest since I got it.
Thanks for considering me :D
Hello Tiy!
I'd like to apply to help with bugfixes, I'm on day 172 in my current save so I've sunk tons of hours in to your game so far, loving it.
I've been very active on SWGemu mantis, I've helped with fixing a critical save issue on Don't starve, Prison Architect Mantis, not so active but Introversion already has a huge bug list and plenty of reporters. There's a few more from the past, I figured it would be a quicker read to only mention the most recent ones.
I'd like to help test! Played the game a fair bit and have had to debug my own games so i will try to do some helpful testin'.
Got a lot of free time on my hands, (Summer vacation ftw) so I'd love to help out.
If you're still looking for help, I aim to volunteer! I've done tons of betas, some lasted for years and others weeks. Most of them MMOs (ex. Mabinogi and PathOfExile)but sometimes I get in Single-Players too (ex Don'tStarve and Starbound )
Love to help out with Rimworld! :)
Do i get a free copy of the game if i help ;)
I'll offer to lend a hand, I've been a professional software engineer for 7 years, involved in the ubuntu project before that, Masters in tech etc, bug tested a few games here and there (these days since you buy games before there release i guess i bug tested ALOT of games haha)
It would be good to trial the new changes and offer some suggestions, i can see a lot of ui changes to help new players out which is moderately useful, could even do a bit of coding if need be for some minor stuff.
Not available untill monday though.
Hey,
I just today bought Rimworld after following development for some time. Love it and would love to help test new builds!
In the past I have been on the closed beta tests for Sacred 2, Shattered Horizon, Tribes Ascend, Firefall, Warface, Tactical Intervention and some other games and software so I know how to report bugs. ^^
Best regards
-waves hands in the air irractically-
I want to help! :D
I'm down, i'm under a house arrest because of a fight, so I cant do anything but play games, so I have plenty of time to play this and look for bugs, that is of course if you want me to test Alpha 5
I'd love to help out.
I already own the game and I've been in lots of alphas and betas (most recently Planetary Annihilation and Wasteland 2).
Hey Tynan, I'm off for the summer break so have plenty of time on my hands and would love to help out! As for experience I worked as QA tester on burnout and crysis for EA if your memory goes back that far? :D

I would love to help bug-test this wonderful game of yours (if you let me , that is).
(I am a programmer as-well, so i could put things into perspective when notifying you of the various bugs/glitches/exploits)
Its also summer break and I only work at night, so :)
I can help out reporting bugs. I've done it in a few games before. Just let me know specifically what your looking for.
I would like to help, I helped in some alphas/betas
All right people, a bunch more of you are not public testers, please find the info you need in the public tester forum board.
Where is the public tester forum board? I can't see it :/

you don't have access
(tynan hasn't given you Private/Public Tester status(possibly in the future he will))
You'll understand that I'm just a bit wary of people who have their very first post be asking to play the pre-release game, and who don't specify what they're done before.
Sure man, that's ok. I just recently found out about this game and I'm spending hours on it. Got the summer break too, a lot of time to spend. That's why it's my first post. I wish you good luck with the game and of course i get it.
hey tynan I wanna join your test.
An Alpha in an Alpha?
I'm in
It's understandable Tiy, don't forget though, there's always a group of people who don't post in "general discussion" forums. Some of us prefer to merely lurk arround. :P
Hey love the game, would be happy to help find bugs and answer questions. I do qc and bug hunting at work, granted it isn't video games just our data processing programs but I still enjoy trying to find bugs.
can give it a test if you still need some extra hands Ty
i've already found a few bugs for you, does that count? ;)
Hi Tynan,
I'd be interested in helping out. I've done a fair bit of bug track/repo with Gentoo & the occasional game. I'm enjoying Rimworld and would like to help you improve it further.
Oh, and I do own it :-)
I own Rimworld. I would like to help test Alpha 5. I have limited experience, but some time on my hands for the next week or so.
I'd like to sign up for alpha 5 testing i have some experience beta testing a game called Nosgoth
I guess you have many testers already but if I can help I would like to! :) I enjoy playing Alpha/Beta games and bug-hunting. I have contributed to many early games and while I may not have a lot of spare time nowadays, I do like to play hard when I do get the chance :)
[Edit] To name a few alphas I have helped bug-hunt and support - Minecraft - Planet Explorers - AI War - 7 Days to Die - Hack 'n' Slash - Kerbal Space Program - Kinetic void - Space Engineers - Starforge
The list could literally keep on going. I have alpha tested/testing about 25 or so games, although many are finally coming into/out of beta testing now :)
I'd be glad to help test it! I don't have a lot of experience intentionally bug testing, but I like to push games to their limits and would be glad to report any problems I find in this new version!
Oh, and I do own the game.
Hi
I would love to help out with testing, I own the game, have beta tested numerous games, my preference being strategy games, I spent a lot of time reporting bugs for various Stardock games, and I did a stint as a Nintendo product tester so I'm somewhat familiar with reporting programs and protocols.
I keep your change log in a tab at all times, because i'm an update junkie.
keep up the good work, cheers!
I'd love to help out. Just picked up the game, so I have a fresh perspective that may catch things that is old hat to others.
Up to it over here.
Alpha and Beta tested several other games that I won't name to avoid advertising. Let's just say some were parts of large companies, and some weren't.
Probably a little late for this Alpha release, but I'm willing to assist with this or future testing. I have an engineering background with extensive experience finding/reporting/testing/resolving software issues, have used/moderated/administered several bug trackers (including Mantis) and collaboration suites, and participated in alpha/beta testing of other games.
I own the game, and am always happy to help.
I'd like to put my name forward as a tester. I'm very eager to see the new content. I have 2-4 hours a day to play (more on weekends), and lately it seems like all I play is RimWorld anyways, so... As for experience, I've been playing video games for 28 years if that counts for anything, lol.
I would be willing to be a tester. I have been in many commercial beta's and alpha's and would probably be useful to have on the team. I also have purchased the game already.
Okay! A bunch more have been added as public testers, I hope you can test today's build.
Ty

Have to say, it's rather de-morallising that someone who posts that they're under house arrest with no mention of previous experience and they are allowed in to public test but I'm not. :/
It would be awesome if you could be a bit more detailed about who exactly you are looking for Tiy! :)
It's Ty; Tiy is the guy who makes Starbound.
But, well, I've just decided to open it up for now, so I'll definitely bring you on.
If you still need more people, I've been working as a hobbyist programmer for the last 15 years, and have been involved with alpha through beta tests in various segments of the industry. I'm new to Rimworld, but it's already grabbed my interest far more firmly than anything else in its category of gameplay.
If you aren't, then I want to throw words of encouragement to everyone who did get involved. Testing for a game in development -- especially one in an alpha stage of completion -- can be frustrating, but for independent developers without a large staff volunteer testers are lifeblood.

I feel like a derp now. Sorry Ty :( But thanks! Time to no-life your game again with the intention of trying to break it ! :D
So, full disclosure... Don't own the game yet myself. Money's too tight right now to be able to justify spending it on video games, sadly. But I've turned a couple of people onto the game and gotten them to buy it so... Doing my part there.
If you're willing despite that though, I would love to be able to help you bug squash. I almost never get into alphas unless I'm actually going to try to report bugs as I see them (and reproduce them ahead of time to report that as well, when possible), defeats the purpose of it being an alpha otherwise (betas at this point in the game industry are pre-release marketing, but back when they actually were betas I had the same policy :P ). I really like what you've been doing with the game so far (particularly how you've been focusing on making almost everything about it easy for modders), would love to be able to help you make it better.
Fully understand if you don't want to give a pre-release version of an update to someone who hasn't shelled out for the game proper yet, though, lol.
Id love to test alpha five for you Tynan, ive just got on my summer break so im free most days and will be on the forums almost all the time, I'll play the game for hours and report back what i like and dislike aswell as any problems if i find any
