I bought this game at the tail end of B15 and am utterly amazed at the progress this game has made.

I can't wait til release. I was hoping for a bit more bionics (kidneys, liver) and maybe the ability to heal fingers/nose/ears but I'll take what I can get.

This was worth my 30 dollars entirely. I will never stop speaking highly of Rimworld.

So "all" the B19 mods will work on 1.0? One thing I wish that was implemented it being able to haul raw food and animal products out of prisons.

Just for some clarification. The steps discussing moving the mods from 294100 to mods. Is this because that's where workshop mods will be going with 1.0?

I hope it was worth for buying this game back in 2016 or 2017?

& i must say... It was worth it, thank you for this game!

So what are your future plans, Tynan?

The "\common\RimWorld\Mods" folder basically serves as the offline backup copy that won't get automatically updated when the mods are updated in the Steam Workshop.

Any mods installed manually (e.g. not from Steam Workshop) are normally installed here. Putting mods into this folder also allows you to play with them offline, whereas mods in the "\workshop\content\294100" require an internet connection.

Default workshop mod location shouldn't be changing with the release of 1.0. This is just a way to prevent frustration from having mods auto-update and break saves.

Lol ok. He just means for those playing B19 saves. I was worried i'd have to somehow change where all my mods were going to go. I like being able to develop in the mods folder while letting steam do its own thing in 294100

I bought the game after seeing Scott Manley on youtube play Alpha 2, which I too played for around ~70h. I thought I had gotten my money worth of gameplay out of this fantastic game.
I was amazed at the introduction of the temperature mechanics, shocked by the removal of the fear mechanics (I loved the cages), confused why my walls didn't contain wires anymore at some point. This game has now served me more than 450h of fun, and I bet it will continue to do so in the future.
I love the modding community, the friendly people in the forums, the Steam Workshop, the stories that just happen and how the game developed.

Thank you Tynan for your awesome work, thank you ludeon team for your awesome contribution to this awesome game. I'm glad to be a part of it!

No. The instructions in that blog post are to put your Steam mods into a folder where they won't get auto-updated to 1.0, when you yourself keep playing b19 because you followed the first step in that 2-step plan.

If you let Steam update you to 1.0, some of your mods will stop working until they upgrade to 1.0
If you keep Steam on 0.19, some of your mods will stop working when they upgrade to 1.0
If you keep Steam on 0.19 and copy all your mods into the game's mods folder, they will not be upgraded by Steam and you can keep on keeping on.

Its been a long way since I first started to play this game back in 2014. At this time I already enjoyed playing the game so much and amongst all those early acces games I have RimWorld is by far the one with the best development.

I'm really happy for you and your staff to finally get to this 1.0
And congrats to the awesome mod community and all of those who contributed to make this game what it is now.

Does a content lock include sound effects, music and iconification/UI assets? Always felt the buttons, menus, etc. were a little alpha-looking still.

Either way, I've sunk more time into this game than most games I buy, and it's made it to my top 10 all-timers without so much as a shrug. Genuinely happy with it, and wouldn't hesitate on any future DLCs, etc.

I'm very happy for you Tynan and all the other Devs. Ison and to be honest I don't know the whole team by name. Thanks for making this game. The only thing I care about are bug patches. So please release at least a couple if not more solid bug fixes over the next little while to several months etc.

I feel Vanilla Rimworld is an amazing game. And we all know the dedicated modders will be around. It's going to be sweet finally playing a final version where mods don't have to be changed rapidly. I'm sure even patches may make some mods need updated. But it will be small updates where the modder only needs to change a few things. So we can finally start to get well patched mods as well. Instead of now where half the work that goes into mods is just to keep them updated with the most recent version of Rimworld.

I wonder if Tynan has plans for another game? But please once again beat the bugs to death before starting a whole new project!

As someone who's been around since 0.13.1135, I've been amazed seeing RimWorld grow and change. Every new content addition has sparked new interest in me to play the game once more. I have no doubt that the release will do that same. There will never be a time when I won't smile at replaying an older version, looking at how things have changed. Looking forward to seeing any future projects you might work on.

I just wanna chime in an the congratulations. It's a great game with amazing complexity and high replay value.
I joined around Alpha 14 i think, and back then it was already a good game. What it has grown to is amazing.

Given the little time i have to game (babies does that to ones sparetime), it will probably be some time before i try out the big 1.0, but then my favorite mods should be updated too.

Congrats with the release, and damn you Time-thief!

Tynan, I want to say thank you for all the fun I have and will have in the future with RimWorld. I'm playing the game since Alpha 9 I think, and it was a long journey with over 1,000 hours on Steam and hundreds of hours besides Steam. I played a few early access games since then, but RimWorld is the very first of these games, that will finally get the 1.0 version out :)
You achieved something, that not very much early access games will do. Congratulations!

On the other hand I am a bit sad to await the 1.0. A part of the fun of playing RimWorld was always the excitement to try out a new Alpha version. I always had to adapt to a new play style and to figure out the new mechanics. I really enjoyed it and it makes me a bit sad to know, that no more content updates will happen. But I also know that modders still will make the unexpected happen :D

Tynan, I really hope to hear about new stuff from you, whether it will be a completly new game or a RimWorld 2.0. I wish you and your team the best of luck!

Super exciting! I suggest a paid DLC as the next step. I'm sure that would help to recoup some of the massive time investment spent developing the game. I would imagine a very large percentage of players would buy it.

Big congratulations to the team!

I've been playing since A16 (so a relative newbie) but have spent countless hours on many challenges and even more time watching people play Rimworld on Youtube - dammed addictive game.

Despite the level of change I've been impressed with the stability and relatively low level of bugs - as a developer myself I know that speaks highly of your process.

Despite having a fairly complete set of systems the game in some ways feels a bit like a blank canvas - in that there are so many directions it could evolve and develop. I certainly hope it will continue to.

Congratulations to the Luedon Team.
You have done a wonderful Job. I have bought this gem on the 22.03.2016.
Later on, i added it to Steam which tells me: Most played game with 1097 hours played. This seems much, and Steam didn't know every time I played it. To be honest, sometimes I let Rimworld run, while cooking or doing other things.
Rimworld was the first game which connected me to Reddit. The first time I used a gaming forum to make a game a little bit better. And as I learned new things, Rimworld learned, too.
I think the team behind Rimworld have done a great job. You gave many players memories of interesting simulated events, which they tell other people, like a AAA cinematic film. When I think back to my first try, I will never forget one of my starting colonists, who was an old gunner, not very useful but very old. And the tale how he died defending the entrance to the spaceship. And there are many great tales like this out there.
It was a nice journey with Ludeon and I am happy, you have reached your goal.

Tl:dr Love it, would buy again, 10/10

Not finding a feedback thread, this felt like the best place to ask a couple of questions.
1. Has the "fair play timer" delay on doors closing been changed at all? (I can't find anything positive to say about it, and I am tired of my cook leaving the freezer door open at least half of the time)
2. Are there any changes to the forced minimum range? (I could accept melee attacks reseting the aiming timer on ranged weapons (perhaps excluding pistols and other small weapons). Feburary

If not, are there any mods out there that change these back to how they used to be?

I had not checked the forums for a couple of days (I do play other games), and then on a trip the update e-mail came. I did not expect an update any time soon because there still seemed to be a number of things that needed fixing (like these two issues that felt more like temporary patches as opposed to permanent fixes. Both of these in particular break immersion for me and feel like a new player trap by operating differently than one would expect drawing on the real world (doors can be slammed, you don't have to back out of the melee only zone to shoot someone attacking the person next to you). I have never felt melee was particularly broken. It always sounded like a bad idea that should only be used (by the player) under controlled circumstances (ambushing an isolated enemy for instance). The only issue for me is that melee weapons felt a little weak.

I don't door cheese, I try to find ways to take advantage of brawlers (and high melee pawns) without excessive risk (and massive medical bills). I guess the biggest issue for me other than the doors looking stupid is that I feel like I am being punished because someone else couldn't control themselves.

Sadly the best use of a brawler is to sit in cover with a shield belt baiting bullets.

True when using a killbox. They sit behind sandbags and draw fire (or beat up the mistake that got too close). In the open, however, I have had pretty good luck hiding them off to the side to pick off enemy pawns that fan out to the side looking for cover (or ignoring my colonists to go burn something).
