PM Tynan directly I'd say

But your best bet would be to talk to your school counsler about this.
Check the median Pay if you're fine with a job with unstable or low payouts
Go to College for 4 years
Go to Grad School for 2 years
Work + Go back to school every 8 years or so
Retire
Life = Over

Pay attention in math class, you have no idea how useful that stuff is going to be.

Buy some books on programming languages that interest you and start experimenting in your spare time.

Buy books off amazon and use google to gather information on programming, experiment a little in visual studio (depending on what language you are going to use).
1-3 hours of programming a day would be enough.

Google. There's not much you can learn from a $100 textbook that you can't learn for free by googling it.

True, one person i would recommend to you who taught me how to code for games in c# was someone called awful media on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/AwfulMedia/videos
He does programming,  web design and other stuff so i downloaded his whole youtube channel.
What language are you thinking of learning?

Personally I loathe getting coding information via youtube. I want a website where I can copy paste the code into my own or preferably download the source directly so I can dissect it at my leisure.

Not to mention having to go back and forth in the video if you want to look back at a particular section of code.

i normally watch the videos just to get an idea of the structure of the code. Some things done in visual studio are a tad different to unity etc.

My advice would be to focus on math and computer science.  For now, I would say overall good grades should be your top priority.  Try to go to a non-profit university (grades and finances may dictate which one).  You may find in your first couple years of college that you are interested in something else (there are a lot of amazing disciplines out there).  So, I would suggest you give yourself a chance to try other things.  Doing what you really enjoy is worth a lot.  If money is your goal and you are decent in computer science, it is not all that hard to make six figures with it after a few years of experience.  Even if you find something else you like, computer science is a highly complimentary skill to almost any discipline (certainly STEM fields).  Finally, remember that personal skills are just as important as technical skills.  Who you know is as important as what you know.  So, network with people, stay in touch with friends, etc.  Best of luck to you. :)

I hate video tutorials because you are stuck learning at the speed that the video creator felt like teaching. It's a pain to skip to the parts of the video that are actually talking about what you need to learn. I shouldn't have to sit through 5 minutes of video talking about things I already know, only to realize that they never actually properly explain the thing that I was there for.

For quick game programming, Quill18 made some nice Unity tutorial videos in his other channel, Quill18Creates. His 7-part video on how to make a Flappy Bird clone is a nice one to start with.
