you should use a stick to sense the ground before you. So you can be sure you stay on the road and don't fall into the river.

Do you have any errors (red text) at the log window. To open the log window ingame you need to enable developer mode at the option, then the top left icon.
Without mods, attach the logfile to your answer, you need to use the reply button to see file attachment options.

With mods, deactivate half of your mods and start a new colony to check if you see them again. (hugslib got a nice quickstart feature, the top right icon).
Be sure you have no error's after a mod activation.
