Title: Can a new MacBook Pro run rimworld quiety? No fan noise.
Post by: flightgamer on February 21, 2020, 10:05:09 AM
Please excuse the weirdly specific question but I'm just plain picky about fan noise and curious if anyone has the 16 inch MBP. YouTube videos don't help me because all the tests tend to push to the max like encoding so obviously the fans are going to spool up. Before buying I would really like to know about how quiet the MBP is doing more reasonable tasks like basic photoshop or running Rimworld. Thx

Judging by the specs a MacBook Pro should have no sweat playing RimWorld (not GPU intensive, quite CPU intensive).

Still though, fan's gonna run.

My computer isn't great, but it's better than the macbook.  With just 8 colonists on speed 3 I can reach 50-60% CPU utilization.

Photoshop idles at 1% most of the time unless you actually use a filter, or other heavy feature.

later in game events like 50++ tribal raids bring 3820 to knees and you absolutely will have 100% CPU and coolers on max RPM
