I've seen a lot of YouTubers who play RimWorld use buttons as text rather than icons. I'm sorry if this is a n00b question but I am in fact very new to the game.
How do you get the UI buttons in the main game to display as text rather than icons? Is there a mod I need to use or is it in the vanilla game?

text is just an icon too or at last it can be.
And no that isn't a vanilla feature, it should be a mod.

Since they are simple replacements, it should be safe to add and remove them, just try them out.
