I have a colonist which ignores my meditation spot at a statue to go far out to meditate at a non claimed stele which grants a lower meditation bonus. The area is not restricted, both are artistic types and available to that colonist. It seems like they are doing this exclusively and ignore the meditation spot entirely. Deconstructing the spot and making a new one did not help.

Edit: it seems like it's linked to the "Room requirements" of the building - whatever those seem to be - which makes it so the sculpture is unusable (without warning). Is this new? Even if the sculpture is disabled, they should use the meditation spot. If I restrict the area so they can't go to steles anymore, they just hang out on a random spot, meditation with the 50%/day base instead of entering the room with the meditation spot to do the same.
Is this linked to the new ideology linked sculptures now having room requirements to not make people unhappy? Even if that is somehow spread on all sculptures, it should make the sculpture unusable instead of disabling the meditation spot in the same room as the sculpture.

Both DLCs, no mods used.
The reason why Beau is not meditating in this room, despite being assigned to the spot, is because the room the meditation spot is in is counted as a bedroom, and a pawn won't meditate in a bedroom that isn't Beau's. If you change the bed to Beau, or turn the room into a barracks by adding a second bedroom, Beau will then meditate at the spot.
Thank you for the explanation. Is that because it's linked to the recreation activity "meditation", which cannot be done in someone else's bedroom? The message you are getting is just saying that the colonists need a meditation spot. If you do stuff like e.g. put meditation spots at the anima tree and assign them to people without a nature focus, you'll instead get a message like "unusable: people cannot meditate at that focus object because they are missing focus x".
In the situation I depicted you will only get "needs a spot". An "unusable: reason x" would probably be nicer for this, especially since that message already exists in the game for situations where the spot is unusable.
I will suggest a clarity pass on this mechanic be considered.
