This is a nice mod and i would like to try out but i already have zombie apocalypse mod and superior crafting and more i don't think the great war will be compatibile with it but i will try it anyway :D keep up with the canine work thanks!

@jonoRig , @w00d - will retexture on next update! it will still be orange but ill add some dirt so it will look like kinda tan  8) or maybe ill make it tan..

@Rannzou - no worrys its fully compatible with the mods you mentioned, cause i also use those mods :P
sometimes when a german raid is over they just turn to zombies lol reminds me of COD zombie mod

not so sure, cause im still making an event where the factions will invade you periodically just like in zombie apocalypse.. i hope to add it in the next update. but if it didn't make it in 3 days lets say ill post the new update this saturday alright.

Polish army was part of austro-hungarian forces. Poland had hard situation between XIII and early XX century. I suggest to read this:

Alright, i read some information about polish in world war 1. it says they didn't participate in war against france and britain but only fought against Russia,

but.. if you want i could add them to Ausria-Hungary's Faction since they're only a branch of the Army. ill add them as unit types. right now the only unit in Austria-Hungary is bosnian infantry.
if you could just name what the polish soldiers are're called ill add them  ;)

Edit: i see they're polish legions sounds badass haha.. so should i add them? your call mate

It's very nice of you :) I'd like to see polish army in your mod ( if you have time of course).

The whole polish army was called "Polish Legions"
So single one will be callee Polish legionnaire

I don't know about flag usage in those days. I know that they had Polish Eagle on uniforms (hats generally) I think they started using polish flag after reborn of country.

Poles fought in most of armies that days. Even in German, and Russian. As I said before, Poles in WWI it's very difficult topic. :)

Quick question: Why do you need to remove vanilla factions?
Also towards the end of the war soldiers were equipped with steel helmets to combat head injury by artillery so maybe make different class of helmet that costs a bit more than normal helmets but provide better protection.
Also the Flamethrower was introduced in WW1.

if i did not remove them there will be a lot of factions on the game.. since i added 4 factions + vanilla + what you wanted to add. imagine the disaster . but if you want ill make em' stay, your call

not all soldiers really wear steel helmets some time they wear caps. but it depends on the unit class in the game there is 2 types of pawn, infantry wear helmets but officers wear cap, but the french majority wear caps.. i have 2 types of helmet btw (British Helmet,Adrian Helmet, German Helmet (w/ spike on top).
thanks for reminding me of the flamewerfer i forgot to add it :P (will design a realistic fire for it so it will take some time)

Lol. I had fun seeing commandos and raiders trying to survive a zombie raid while the french and brits bombarded the area. So personally i love all of them fighting each other and my colonists running across the field saving whomever they can.

I didnt mean for all of them to wear them but to *maybe* make a class where they have better protection. Although now that i think of it doesnt really matter.

Flames to burn the heathens! *cough* I mean... No no thats actually what I mean :'D

Really i would think just some more weapons because I have like 50 of each type already. But let me look into some more weapons that other factions had and see if youll add them.

^these are all melee weapons that were used to raid trenches (i believe i read somewhere that they're coming in alpha 7?)
as for handguns (keep in mind a lot of them were revolvers) there's:
Colts (americans used these alot)
Mannlicher M1901
Rast M1898
Nagant M1895
Star M14
Savage M1907
Frommer Stop (probably the most badass pistol on the list. they sometimes used two as a double barrel machine gun on a tripod. Cant get any better than that!)
Nambu
As i said before many of these are revolvers so they all look very similar so you may want to just put in a couple to make it seem like theres variants.

Lets go for rifles now:
Remington M8
French Lebel
French Berthier
U.S. Springfield
Winchester M1910
Jezail (although i feel like this should be a craftable weapon because of its history)
Elephant gun. Because fuck it. They were actually used in the beginning of the war.

Snipers
Couldnt really find anything on them other than they were basic rifles with greater range and a scope.

Light machine guns
Again not much found that i already didnt give you. although i would like to see Maxims and MG's like the 08 and 18 being mountable turrets.

I don't believe there were any specialised sniper rifle until around the vietnam war. At least there aren't any I'm aware of since snipers in WW1/2 were standard bolt action rifles with a scope.

i dont think ill be adding melee weapons for a while lets wait for alpha 7 alright,
also in handguns.. but ill be adding 2 rifles those are the french lebel & Winchester since we already got 2 kinds of rifles in the game about the LMG i already added a maxim 08 its a manned turret yep research the earlyWW1Era to gain access to ww1 support artillery

just like to state for the record on that America request, they we're a late war entry excluding the use of volunteer pilots and planes for most of the war  ;)

On another note I would love to see the Ruskies added in both the White and Red russians since the The Great Revolution(i think it was called) was taking place around the same time  ;D

After playing a bit I think it might be best if you tinker with the range values, its a little annoying having Bolt action rifles getting out ranged by dirty natives with they're short bows  ??? just a thought. gonna be tryin 1.1 now  ;D

Suggestion - artillery strike weapon e.g. a pair of binoculars that have large cool down but that rain death from the heavens on your enemy.

cool down would be 30 secs or similar (for cannon reload)

i dont think its possible, cause the tanks rely on the factions in the mod.. without the mod they wont spawn in the game.. or maybe will spam some error... Edit: what's your plan with the tanks anyway?

You know the mod maker gave permission for people to do with they want with mechatronics. Could you possibly make your own so people could enjoy it again?  Think about it....Just a tank and a centipede hanging out, talking, Shooting and murdering stuff

hey, so i kinda noticed that you have the same barbwire, or looks really similar to and acts the same as the one used in the Realistic Weapon's Fortifications Pack, you could probably use the trenches from that pack(pending approval from the moderator) or do you plan on making your own model just out of curiosity?

yeah it kinda looks like the same as fortification mod but its not the same .
i plan to add damage to the barbwire, when a pawn gets near it and able the tanks to destroy it when they pass..

about the trench (no offense to RWFP) but i dont like the looks of the trench :P i plan to make my own and make it a bit 3d so it will look more like a trench.. ~cheers

the mod is downloadable in nexus and its totaly free, all you need to do is go to the download
look for "files" click it and it will show the files download the latest version ~ cheers

So i have a request. Its more ww2 themed vut the idea suits it better than whats currently implemented. Changing the droppods to parachutes so it looks like supply drops and it would make the pawns look like they are parachuting down.

Well from my theory name banks work in the sense that the pawn generator picks out a first and last name. So there will be many Adolf Hitlers if theres only Adolf and Bob in first name and Hitler as the obly last name. Thus 50% of the time Adolf Hitler pawns are created. But say we add 49 more last names for a total of 50 then theres a 1% chance. Like wise we add 148 more first names theres an even slimmer chance that adolf hitler appears. Even less so if Adolf Hitler should have certain traits to.make him be the Adolf Hitler with traits requested. Its all really a luck of the draw and the likely of me getting said adolf hitler would be like 1 in several thousands (that is if theres 150 first names and 50 lastnames)
But thats just my theory. Might be wrong.

Hitler was in WW1. Not as a big name as he is in WW2 but he was still in it. It was part of the reason why he rose to power so fast. But he was more of an example. What i was trying to get at was to make a namebank for each faction based on names of real people who were in the war like generals and commanders. Just to add more realism.

Hitler stayed in the supply lines of WW1
Almost got sniped by an Englishman but he was downed and basically shitting his pants so the Gentleman let Hitler go.

Anyway: I want there to be a version history/Change log so I can see what each version of the mod does/changes it also lets me see progression of the mod. Its nice to know these things, and sometimes a changelog is better at recording what the mod offers or will offer.

Sometimes older versions are better/more fun due to not being too complicated or mod conflity

like to add, Hitler was apart of WW1 in a Bavarian company 1914-1918 when he was temp blinded by an exploding shell and lost his voice to mustard gas being hospitalized at Pasewalk till the end of the war

you can. by overwriting the factiondefs and making its

Ok cool but it would be awesome if you could add in the mod dogs or other pets.You know like a little help is never bad.And they can patrol and guard your colony.Wouldn't be nice?

You might want to look into the k9 mod from alpha 5. Maybe you can find useful tidbits. Also will we be seeing melee weapons now :'D

Bonjour! everyone id like you to do something for me.. theres a typo in the tank.. which makes them to use the nebelwerfer which is seriously bad for you..

first go here
RimWorld\Mods\The Great War 7.1.2\Defs\ThingDefs
open the file TGWGuns with notepad
and look for "nebelwerfer" find its weapon tags and change "tank" to "Nebelwerfer"

What a great mod! There were only few things those bother me, which are the gasmasks, and the russian uniforms. Their outline is somewhat rough and it doesn't really fit in. That is a great mod, you are a great person, and Rimworld is simply awesome game, so i wish that you can fix that. Not forcing you, just a pretty please  :)

I'm not sure of my skill in modding rimworld(only paradox and bethesda games :P),but i COULD try updating it to B18,no promises,and no new content/fixes.
As i said,i'm not sure as i only create mods for myself usually,and struggle in the texture and graphics part.So the chance i manage to update it is probably closer to 5%.

Edit:nevermind 500+ lines of errors broke all of my hopes after the 21st or 22nd try and hours and hours of trying to change the code without breaking everything.
