Another of my small tweaky kind of mods.
This adds 3 lights, a ceiling light which is basically the standing lamp with an almost transparent texture to simulate it being in the ceiling. (something about floor lamps erks me). I do need to remove the linking wire but its not an issue for now.
A wall light, simple little half dome (rotatable) lights slightly less than a normal lamp but uses less power as well.
And a (for now) OP Outdoor Path Lamp which illuminates only to 5 but can not be placed under roofs and requires no power and works in eclipses, ill be changing this eventually to have its own battery and solar gen which will keep it running for most of the night and will obviously not work all through an eclipse, and it uses a lovely shade of blue/purple.
Also added grass to growable plots so you can have nice lawns now.
Made thick roofs not thick so they can be removed now.
Made a "ThermiteBomb", this allows you to make 9 cells roof thin (or sky if they already thin) at a cos of 50 metal for the bomb, just plant it where you want a thin roof and detonate. (thanks to Rikiki for the nudge on this one)
Made walls link to rocks like in pre A7. - fixed in Alpha 8
Also added a simple fence, uses logs, joins together like sandbags, no gate yet, but ill add one eventually.
Added the ability to plant berry bushes, little OP but not hard to just plant a field of potatoes and get the same amount of food. - removed, too cheaty.
Also for those that want the thermite bomb on its own: - split out, ill add a link here once ive updated it.
Thermite bomb is now "shapedCharge" in my weapons and trinkets thread.
Download MoreDeco (https://www.mediafire.com/?aap63c9zg8gpsjo)
Also adding a way to build over mud and stuff (not water just yet im working on it).
Download WaterBoarding (http://www.mediafire.com/download/9eyr4p949npz3rd/WaterBoarding.zip)

Don't care much for the ceiling lamp, although I believe someone else loves it.
I, however, love the path lamps!! Esp. the idea of them having their own solar/battery.
Magnificent!!
finally ceiling lamps
will this be upadated?
Yep its updated on my github. (Skullywag) feel free to grab it. I'm gonna be adding my mods to a single thread as its hard for me to update em all spread out. it'll be done today at some point. Ill post a link here when its done.
Thank you
Just for ease:
https://github.com/Skullywag/Rimworld-Mods
just click download zip and grab the required mod out of there.
Really like the look. Question though: Do the ceiling lamps count as a walkable space or do they still count as taking up a space of the floor?
exactly the same as the floor lamp, they are passable (can be walked through) but still take up a building slot. Nothing can be done about that without a change to how buildings worked in the core game.
The floor lights don't seem to be working for me, I can place them and everything but they just dont light up at night.

Yeah the little square one, is it not implemented yet or something?
It should work fine, let me retest it.
ahh wait, make sure youre grabbing from my github not the download link (thats for A6)
ive removed the A6 version.
I can't get the path light to work either. Still listed as dark directly beside it at all times. Also has a really tall shadow which is weird but whatever.
Ive renamed the mod and added some decorative stuff as this is where i dump my beautification tweaks.

Also made thick roofs nonthick so they can be removed.

I like your naming of things
MoreTM =P
Could make a drinking game out of it ;D
its just im that unoriginal...hmm i added more weapons...yep thatll do for a name. :p
Walls now link to rocks like in pre A7.
Ohhhh, HELL YES! That's something I've wanted SO badly! You rule so hard, skully!
I love that you have got rock attaching to walls again its been driving me nuts in alpha 7, I like the new items you have added but I would like it if there was a separate link for a mod that only edited the rock attaching to wall thing thanks.
You want the code? its easy to do....mods/core/thingdefs copy the buildings_structure file into another folder in the mods folder, now in this new file, delete all bar the "building base" at the top and the "wall" def, now change:
<linkFlags>
<li>Wall</li>
</linkFlags>
to:
<linkFlags>
<li>Wall</li>
<li>Rock</li>
</linkFlags>
In the wall def, turn on your mod done. :)
do the roof tweak now allow mortars to hit inside mountains ?
yes that would get around the "isRoofThick" check so mortars will hit inside mountains, im actually working on an item that will remove thickroofs and not be a catch all as I have done here. So this will change shortly.
Oooh, nice! That'll rule to have available.
Made a "ThermiteBomb", this allows you to make 1 cells roof thin at a cost of 50 metal for the bomb, just plant it where you want a thin roof and detonate. (thanks to Rikiki for the nudge on this one). I may ad a larger one eventually but this is useable for now.

You may need to revive all the
dwarves Dirty cave dwellers Fortress builders of the forum, they just died of shock, Proper Trench warfare style mortar emplacements deep in the mountain? yes please.
The word Thermite itself has a ton of context with it. Enough that I barely see the word and go into Jesse Ventura voice advertising how this is how they brought down The Towers-- SUPERTHERMITE PAINT and all that.
can you not make the thermite bomb affect a bigger radius its rather bothersome AND expensive to clear even a small annoying rock roof
Everythings temporary at the moment. Got some IRL stuff to do but I will get to this.
Added a simple fence, joins together like sandbags and walls...was a test for me to learn how to do the joinable textures, came out ok..ill add a gate later on.
Thank you Skullywag! The best parts of this mod is rocks joing together, and the roof bombs!
Ok i forgot to add the linkflags to conduit walls, ive done this now. They now join to rocks also.
Hello all, I'm having an issue with "moving mountains". I am trying to make an in-mountain wind farm/solar farm. I place the thermite bombs and set them off and then create a no roof zone, but they still don't work. Any ideas?
Unfortunately it only turns the thick roof into thin roof, youd still need to collapse the roof somehow. Its good for edge roofs not the middle. Once i add a larger version this may become easier.
Ah, that would do it. so i have to let the roof collapse a few times before i can make it work? or just wait for the bigger bomb? :P
Well bomb goes off thick roof becomes thin roof if no support it falls leaving sky. Remember a roof needs to be 8 blocks from a supporting structure to fall.
termite bomb is so nice to make your base proper - i tweaked the file for my own gameplay though to be a bit cheaper (tried to tweak the size of the roof change effect first but failed)
so now just buildt a big bomb instead of a singular bomb :P :)
upped thermite bomb range to 3x3. ;)
Am I just using this wrong? I researched it, created a bomb in a spot that had a small overhang of thin rock roof outside my base. It appears to have done nothing as mousing over the spot it was in and the areas around it (3x3) still shows a thin rock roof and they still appear darkened.
Edit: P.S. I tried both with the version I downloaded last night (I assume 1x1) and also the new one from the last post (3x3).
Yes you are misunderstanding the bomb is there to turn "overhead mountain" into "thin rock roof" which allows you to then remove the supports (8 blocks away) and the "think rock roof" will fall and then you have open sky.

Well then :) This is still just as handy for other tasks. So I guess I'm stuck with the little overhangs as I don't want to dig into the mountain at those spots.
Is there anyway besides digging 8 in that I can remove those small overhangs?
Not without another type of bomb or something to completely remove the roof. I might add one, ill have a think.
Thanks for looking into it, those dark patches beside mountains are annoying :P
I suppose I could use the same bomb and say if its mountain go thin roof, if its thin roof go sky. Makes sense...Ill add it as soon as I can. :)
There ya go, thermite bomb now does 3x3 takes mountain to thinroof and thinroof to sky. :)
ooh i forgot to post that ive also added a small half circle wall light, doesnt light as well as a normal/ceiling lamp but uses less power. Its also rotatable.
If at all possible that the ceiling/wall lights can be built over other objects, that'd be great.
Or otherwise more aesthetically pleasing (I believe they are nearly invisible textures that provide light, very hard to see them) would be nice. Another mod I use has lights built in walls (higher cost, power req; of course) but I'd rather use "clutter" than for efficiency.
Thanks for all the work you do; love More Weapons & More Power. :D
There might be one way I can do the 2 buildings in 1 spot thing, but not sure how the game will handle it, ill at least do some testing to see if its possible.
On the subject of the ceiling light its supposed to be almost invisible to mimic the fact that you dont see roofs therefore you wouldnt see the lights. The wall light is brand new and supposed to be a small wall hung light, I can see what I can do but im not sure there is improvement to be had here.

Woot! you da man ;D
Edit after reading later into the thread: I love those ceiling lights! I use them almost exclusively now :) The vanilla lamp reminds me of one of those cheap incandescent ceiling fixtures.
I just cant have a standing lamp that isnt in a corner and when was the last time you were in a room that was lit only by standing lamps....hence ceiling lights, and due to the fact we cant see the ceiling, theyre transparent, see it makes sense...:D
I can't seem to get rid of the thin rock roof with this.
Is the thermite bomb not working? Should just be place and detonate. Works in my local copy. Im not near my pc right now but ill double check when i am.
I'd like to just have the thermite bomb, and not the other things with this mod. Is it possible you can separate it out for download as a stand alone mod?
Also, there is no download on the site you have linked. No releases or anything. Just a bunch of folders, when I click one it loads the folder inside the mod with no download button.
Yeah, same here for me... transforming mountain into thin rock works no problem, but getting rid of the latter aint working.
@Vas
theres a button on the right side, 'download zip'.
But nonetheless kudos for all that work you and the others on this board putting in, just stumbled over rimworld a few days ago and all these
mods make the game even better and depict a great deal what rimworld could look like when its finished ;).
Yep ill seperate out the bomb for ya. Itll be tonight at some point if i can. Ill look into the no removing of thin roof as well.
ok updated the mod, it definitely works and removes roofs now. Ive also added a link to just the bomb to the OP.

I'm pretty sure that downloads the entire repository. Not just one mod/one folder.
It does buts its less than a meg and saves me having to release individual tags and stuff or uploading individual folders on mediafire and stuff. Once I have a few more mods or any of them get larger I might think about splitting it off into its own repo, for now this is it.
bomb works now, ty :).
Hi, I installed it on my existing save and when I loaded the game it simply removed all "overhead mountain" roofs. Thermite bomb is responsible for that (I installed it sepparately as well). When started a new colony everything works fine. I'm not sure whether this mod is supposed to be save compatible or not - just putting it here in case it is.
Lolwut. You ran the standalone thermite bomb mod against an existing world and it made all overhead mountains what? Thin roofs? Was this on load or after setting one off? I dont see how this could happen...got a save i can try the same steps against.
All right, made a proper bug report for you:
Steps to reproduce:
- Start a new colony (either existing or newly created world) with no mods activated.
- Designate an area to mine under a mountain and wait until you reach "overhead mountain".
- Save, close (Main menu or OS, no difference).
- Activate Thermite bomb mod. Load the previous colony.
- Behold! All overhead mountain roofs disappeared.
In place of overhead mountain there is nothing - no roof of any sort at all. Thin roofs remained as they were before. No bomb detonation needed, I haven't even researched it. No errors/warnings/messages in the ingame log.
Screenshots:Vanilla digging:

After the mod loaded. The light area on the left used to be Overhead mountain. The dark area remaining is Thin roof.

Here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0hX9YzCGWrJMmlheW5NLWIzZlk/view?usp=sharing) is the save. It's saved right after vanilla digging. And output_log.txt just for sure.
Cheers,
Kubouch

Wow um ok. Leave it with me must be something to do with the roofgrid resetting.
Ah found it! a leftover roofdef from before I had the bomb, check if you have a roofdef folder if you do remove it. Ill redo the upload as well.
Uploaded thermitebomb mod fixed and github repo updated aswell.

Now it seems to work. I have my overhead mountains again. Thanks!
nice mod. i'll test the termite bomb :)
Can you make a large thermite bomb? So it doesn't get tedious clearing a large amount of mountain. :P
Im gonna wait for a8 before doing anymore to this, but sure ill add mulriple versions but they will cost more.
Don't forget if you make larger ones, make the graphic larger, and if a super large one, make it take 3x3 space :P It would be nice to have one that would clear an area exactly the size of a beacon. Oh and for the super large one, use 1 - 3 uranium in the recipe to make it a nuke! Destroy all plants and walls it comes into contact with! With an even larger wave of radiation sickness. :P
What would people think about me merging the roof bomb with my moreblastingcharges mod, making them do damage to roofs? good idea? bad idea?

I never use the roof bomb. I usually build full towns and only dig into the mountains once in a blue moon, but even then I put most of my stuff outside except the rooms and kitchen.
I just played a game and used the grass growing feature for the first time. I gotta say I underestimated the usefulness of growing grass. It is the perfect method to clear any and all trees permanently from an area without having to pave over it. Just create the grow zone and hide it and it looks awesome. I can't believe I never used that before.
Yeah its possibly may fave little mod. It just makes outside spaces look a little more cared for.
I'm not really against it being made into the explosives pack I spent forever looking for. :P However, the nuke in it isn't big enough of an explosion. I haven't tried it either. Not all of the bombs should clear the roof though.
Ill keep it seperate then. Ill add tiers and different sizes.
Updated to A8, removed roof bomb its separate now and ill upload it soon, removed berry growing, felt it was too cheaty. Enjoy!
Every time i start the game with this mod activated (regardless of it's place in my load order) i get an error message with a bunch of references to the thermite bomb. I dont know the first thing about modding this game but it seems to me like you forgot something when you removed it. Still, since no one else has mentioned it i might just be doing something wrong, it has been known to happen. ^^
[attachment deleted due to age]
I can also confirm this. You are not alone :P
Seems to be in relation to thermite bomb and various references.
Yep i know about this. I didnt clean up after myself properly. Im not sure but see if you can remove any defs that mention the bomb its not in this mod anymore.

I would have no idea how to do that i'm afraid. =/ Is it safe to just ignore the error message and use the mod anyway?
Here is mod fixed of errors.
Just deleted unnecessary files relating to the bomb and cleaned up some of the definitions to be updated with alpha 8 strings so to speak.
I assume no more errors will crop up now but that has yet to be seen hehe :S

Great mod. I like the ceiling lamps ;D
I was getting the same errors, then I updated with Andouce's file and the errors are gone. However, I get this at the beginning of each game:
Is this related to the transparent ceiling lights?
I got the red text, but mine was for some poor bastard's Liver.
I'm not sure if it affects anything but it did make me chuckle a bit.
Removed references to thermite bomb this will be another mod once im done with it. Shouldnt error anymore.
see this is what i get for not reading the posts
was like super perplexed about the thermite bomb missing :D
hope it gets to rejoin the mod section
hey skullywag any chance of the thermite bomb returning ? i so loved that bomb.
Sure I have a version Ill upload it in my weapons thread with all the other bits. Give me a bit, not near a PC right now.
Have added the Shaped charge (renamed thermite bomb) to my weapons and trinkets thread.
Yup yup, alpha 9
Added my minimod "WaterBoarding", simply allows you to build flooring over mud. Uses the woodplank floor texture (will happily take a submitted texture for this, i really dont have time). Im gonna work out building over water in the future on this one.
I clicked download water boarding and it lead to razor rain.
woops 2 secs, mediafires uploader is weird sometimes.
edit - fixed.
thank you :3

I have to say, when I first read the name I thought it would add a new prisoner interaction.
haha i know i thought the same thing...it was a play on words even though you cant actually board over water...so fail on my part lol!
water-boarding eh, WHERE ARE YOU HIDING THE BEER!?!?!?!
I love the wall light, I couldn't stand to be without now! Great mod!!!
Thanks!!!!
Lan
Hopefully coloured lights will be incoming for all the lights in this mod, it may not live here though as im tying it into the omnicorp thread as a lighting addon.
remember putting boards on water is not considered torture.
omg thats how they did it - legal loophole
Thanks a bunch for the mud flooring. Unusable thermal geysers are annoying. :)
