I want to say, first off, I love the game so far. Absolutely fantastic pre-alpha, lots to do, game has consumed far more of my time than I thought it would at this stage. While there is still a lot to do and add to the game, I have a not-so-minor concern.
That is, where are the aliens? I am really hoping that we get some extra-terrestrial life forms to battle and contend with in RimWorld. I would love to see strange, exotic, and deadly critters both smart and just brutally predatory assault my base. Imagine getting attacked by a swarm of alien critters and a few days later having your oaf lay sick in bed suddenly, only to explode with a slew of nasty man eating varmints to deal with. Or perhaps, to bring on an alien as a colonist only to find it carries a wicked disease that turns half your colonists into crazed, bloodthirsty savages.
Perhaps alien lifeforms like I'm suggesting or imagining are not part of the lore that Tynan has in mind for the game, and I'll play and love it any which way, but I just think that being a game set in space, having some scary, nasty, vicious aliens would just sweeten the pot all the more.

Tynan has stated many times he wont add aliens. Just mutated/Evolutionised humanoids.
Ah, I haven't followed the game that closely at all, and have only started visiting here in the last day or three. Thanks, Produno. Kind of a let down, but perhaps there will be some other content that makes up for the omission.

I guess them being from another planet would actually infact mean they are aliens, just not in the traditional sense.
Ah, yes, I will have to think of it like that. Humanoid doesn't necessarily mean 'us'.
And to be honest, can't say I've ever seen or heard of boomrats or muffalo before RimWorld.
