Yes it's that time again - the time we come and ask: who among you is man/woman enough to be a tester for RimWorld Alpha 9 and possibly future versions beyond?
If you're willing to test and do the work involved in finding and properly writing up bugs, please post below and say so!
You should note, again, that this doesn't just mean 'play Alpha 9 early'. Don't apply if you're not willing to spend some time investigating bugs you find and writing clear reports about them. Testing is rewarding but it's not just playing games.
Please ensure your forum email matches your purchase email.
Thanks in advance!
I most assuredly would!
I have some previous experience, though it has been awhile: Civ 3: Conquests, some earlier EQ expansions, and more recently with Minecraft modpacks (notably: UHS, Magic Pack).
I also have lots of time to work at it, and the desire to see Rimworld become the next big, huge awesome experience of a game :D
I'd be more than happy to help. I have started studying Video Game Design and QA not so long ago, so any experience would be great.
It's dirty work, but I'll do it! I've done a fair amount pre-release testing and would love to do some hunting for RimWorld.
I'm from Buenos Aires and I say kill all the bugs! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgq0ecMHfzc)
I have interest, and am willing to purchase the game, but haven't yet. Is already owning the game a requirement to applying?
I am a C# business software developer and have had my fair share of bug reports on both sides of the IDE. I have previously written feedback and bug reports for Firefall, SpeedRunners, Altitude, Pathery and others.

Me me me good lord, ME!!
*shrug* I'll give it a bash, I've got nothing better to do other than spend my time berating people about melee weapons.
I've been wanting to get in to something like this for quite a while now as I'm seriously considering getting a job in video game QA at some point.
At the moment, I am unemployed, so I have plenty of free time to do this stuff.
I don't have any experience doing this before, but I do have experience taking things (video games and other programs) and finding ways to break them that many programmers have not considered.
If you think I'd be a good fit, e-mail me at my forum username at hotmail dot com, or tweet me, atsymbol my forum username.
Of course I'm in! I'm on a vacation now which means I can spend some lots of time for this. My English isn't the best, but I can at least write a clear report if I happen to across a bug or two.
Oh and, it will be a really really great asset when I translate Alpha 9 into my language... :P
Not sure that I am "qualified" but do clock up a lot of hours and have a reasonable grasp of the English language :)

PHP/Ruby(Ruby on Rails) developer
Yeah, I would love to help! Any found bugs means less in the stable release ;D
How would we report bugs? Via a forum post like most do, or something else? (pm/email/other)
Sure!
Having 1, 2 times experience reporting bugs on Reddit, I'd really like to help RimWorld improve wherever I could. Though I am not a native English speaker, I, being a novice programmer should help a little bit more on bug finding. As I also got a hobby of recording any ideas or improvements while playing RimWorld, I could be a better human-log for the testing. If you won't bother my way of description or explanation, I'd like to be a helpful tester in the future!!
More about me: I've played RimWorld since Alpha 4. I rarely use mod. I am a Mac player.
I'm down to put in the work. Been spending a lot of time with alpha and beta games so i've been doing a lot to find bugs and discuss them. A more official capacity with places to drop the info would be swell.
I'd be interested in trying. I've Never officially bug tested before. I do like to experiment, though, and I feel like I'm something of a quality writer. :)
Owning and enjoying the game since almost a year.
I would be proud to be able to help you providing an even more awesome experience.
In short, I'm in.
Edit:
Oh and btw,
I'm from the country of best beers,
so of course I'm kind of specialist in drunkness, hangover and all that stuff :D
Hey Tynan, I am definitely motivated to find and properly document bugs. My coding experiences are minor, but I am planning to get involved in game development from a project management perspective. Searching and reporting bugs would thus be a nice opportunity to gain experiences. In addition if you need help with anything else (PR, marketing, establishing contacts, further organisational stuff) sent me a PM :)
I See the One has arrived to help with testing. ;)
Tynan,
Sure, I'd love to help out. I've wrapped up with feature-adding on my A8 mods, and I'm ready to throw myself at the mercy of vanilla Rimworld again. It can't hurt worse than a dentist's appointment. Unless A9 invokes some kind of internet magic to extract teeth through the screen, that is. ;)

Sorry for posting this in the wrong thread, Tynan, but probably you should consider some discount for the countries with freaking sudden usd/national currency drop they experienced lately. Usually I do not mind supporting the devs of the games I find interesting by purchasing their products, but 80% national currency drop within last few months made me change my mind.

I'd be willing to help. I'm not as experienced as some people here, but I have a vague understanding of what you're looking for and I'm willing to put in the time to possibly have the chance at helping you out. Also on the reddit thread linked below you commented that I correctly identified the cause of a bug that the user was asking about. So there's that, I guess.

I'd sure be willing to help. I definitely have the time, and the enthusiasm, and doing computer science/game design I got an idea of what's going on.
I would definitely be interested in that. I am a small time streamer and i also already found some back back in version 6 or 7 that i reported.
I'll sign up to help improve this great game!! I've got some experience in alpha/beta game testing and will work to ensure bugs are outlined clearly and see if i can repeat them after an event.

I would really like to test and find bugs for new versions, making them as good as possible.

As someone who is from the same country as the game creator - a country that over the past few weeks and months has seen it's currency drop to .78 from .94 in July, I have to disagree. Many people bought the game at low rates, unless you plan to go back and discount all of them them - especially Canadians given that all the evidence I see is that the game is budgeted in Canadian dollars - this seems an unfair "but I want a discount" complaint.
I would love to do some testing. I am studying games development and this would definitely be good for me to do. I dont have any real experience testing though but I know the jist of it
Hey Tynan I'm a professional software QA tester and huge fan of the game. I'd gladly replace my time playing RimWorld with time testing RimWorld. If we do find bugs, what is the best way for us to report them?
I would like to help test the game, always wanted to help a worthy Projects. I hope you will do me the honor, and give the opportunity to assist you in testing.

Tynan, i'd be interested in testing out alpha 9. I have some game development experience and am able to(at times) figure out why code or a game act a certain way.
I'd be interested in helping you test. Programming experience and just enjoy playing the game
I'd love to help test the game! I have a bit of programming and quite a bit of IT experience, not sure if it helps but I'm still interested :P

I used my spam filter email when signing up, as I never expected to get anything sent through it. Not sure if I used personal or professional email, though, so it still might not be the right one. 50/50 shot, though - it has to be one of them. xD

Your post count is 1 right now, which means you haven't actually asked to be a tester yet. Once you've been added as a tester, the private Testers subforum becomes available to you. That's where you'll find the critical post to read and follow. (I assume - I'm not a tester myself due to not having time to track bugs down. :( )

I would be willing to test. I've followed Rimworld for a while now and know a lot of its gameplay systems inside out, probably 100 or so hours played and always keen for more Rimworld.

Unfortunately i dont have the best background for it but here is my experience: I live in quebec so i know snow mechanic, i have some study in prog but its really far behind and i'm a nurse in a psychiatry departement (btw my patient are still far less sicko than the rimworld character lol). Please go over to the public tester forum, read the entire "read me first" thread (lots of people skip this and it gets embarrassing), and grab the game.
Where is this public tester forum of which you speak?
I would like to participate in the public testing if it is still open.

It is only visible to public testers. If you wish to be a tester, please say so.

The forum is only open to those that are currently testers, so when/if you are accepted as a public tester, you will have access to said forums and the read me thread. :)
I indeed would, i even have a spare week off of work, so this would be ideal for you lot

As long as you purchased a copy of the game using the same email that's registered to your account, Tynan/Itchy/someone will come through (likely in the next day or so) and bump you up to Public Tester.

it kinda explains why some mod makers say that they have the alpha 9 port ready
I am ready, willing, and able for this assignment.

I'd love to help out. I'm a professional software developer, formerly of the games industry, and I've helped in numerous QA cycles for games - most recently, unofficially for Darkest Dungeon's pre-Early Access push.
I'd love to be a part of it! I am currently in college studying for computer science/engineering, with an emphasis in game design, and have been playing since Alpha 8, and would love to get my hands dirty to get Alpha 9 up to scratch:)
I've been around since Alpha 4 and have been fairly content to just sit on the sidelines, but if the call for testers is still open I'd love to try and do my bit for A9! :)
I've built at least a couple of multi-year colonies so I have a decent understanding of the game. I have also made a couple of small hobbyist games of my own so I know the basics of code logic and what bugs can crop up.
Hello, I would like to help test the game for you. I have been programming for many years, and enjoy the game, so if I can help make it better I will write some reports on errors, I have Mac and Windows systems so I can test on both. I don't have video screen capture on my home systems, I will see about getting it installed for video if you would like. Thank you.

I can put some time into this. Tested many games, mostly various MMO's and Minecraft. I'd be glad to help out.
I also use both Mac and Windows computers so I can stress test on both and report from both sides.
I'm definitely ready to help fix some bugs.

Either I wasn't added, or maybe my email was listed incorrectly/wasn't listed? I don't see a public tester forum :P
It looks like there are quite a few public testers but I wanted to toss my hat in the ring as well. I have worked for Activision for 4 years as a QA tester and am familiar with how to comb for bugs and write up reports on how to reproduce the problem.
I'm relatively new to Rimworld but I absolutely love the game and would like to help any way I can.
Have some free time on my hand atm so if you still want more testers, i will lend you a hand.
If you still seach testers, sign me up please, I also want to help.
o hay, still taking people? I'm totally game.

Send an email to support to get the issue sorted (include that image I removed from your post): [email protected]Upgraded you to public tester status.
I cant also not find/see the puplic tester forum. I got Rimworld via gifting last christmas so maybe there is a problem. I could send the Transaction ID or something like that to verify "my" purchase.

The OP of this thread states that you must ask to be a tester by posting on this thread. You only have 1 post, therefore you haven't asked, which is why you've never been checked or made a tester.
If you wish to be a tester, please follow the directions contained within the OP.
I can try and help finding those bugs.
I would love to test your game. I would like to say I have never done this before however. I have time to do so Just email me assuming you don't already have the people you need.
New build is released, call for testers is closed. Thanks all!
