If anyone wants to give this a try, that would be awesome. If not, a link to some tutorials for complete a simpleton beginner like me would be appreciated.

Is there a beauty perk on the tiles? Love the idea.

Oh ok! I thought it might be as high as 10x as much, but didn't know it was 20x as much. Thanks!

Bugs / Can't craft gold weapons or sculptures?
January 04, 2015, 05:29:47 PM
I have set bills to make longswords, gladius and abstract sculptures out of gold, but none of my colonists (who have art and crafting skills over level 12) will craft these things out of gold. They will however craft them out of uranium and plasteel etc.

Something I made in God Mode. I named it "Desert Fortress".

I'm not sure about carving art into the walls themselves, but smoothing the walls should possible. The smooth floor order helps, but if you really want a crisp looking interior, you have to build new walls entirely. This seems impractical and unnecessary.

Mods / [Mod Request] Order "Smooth Walls"

As you can smooth floors in Alpha 8 + it's strange to me why you can't smooth walls also. This should give a higher beauty bonus as well as looking smooth, as opposed to the "rough hewn" rock walls which are left when you mine out rock. The time it should take to smooth a wall tile should be similar to that it takes to smooth a floor tile.
I'd love to see this as a mod. So thanks in advance if you decide to take this on.

Why not just add in some kind of "relieved that we managed to defend against a raid" mood bonus in for a day or so?
It could counter some of those penalties and enable you have a little time to return to the usual colony life.

I think this is a good idea. As long as that mood bonus isn't too high, otherwise it might defeat the point of events having psychological effect in the first place.

You gotta be hospitable! :D

This.

I prefer to be nice to visitors. You never know when they'll help you out in a fight.

General Discussion / Re: Prisoners?

I always try to give my prisoners a spacious cell with royal bed and a table with a stool to eat from. Make sure they have a clean cell preferably carpeted floors and of course a light source. You could go the extra mile and add a plant and coloured lights, but usually I don't find it necessary.

I just built the spaceship and got 10 out of 11 colonists off the planet safely without mods or cheats of any sort. However I did revert to an earlier save state twice during the game.
Just to let everyone know that it can be done.
I used 3 normal mortars and 2 incendiary mortars to fight off sieges.  Leaving the other colonists to tend to normal duties and swap shifts when those manning mortars got tired. I found this method to be effective. Providing you move quick to man the mortars as soon as the raiders appear.
Base defences included a corridor of death planted with blasting charges with 3 turrets at the end around a corner, forcing those with longer ranged weapons to come closer to their doom.
That's pretty much it. Of course late on in the game, metal was scarce. However, raider sieges provided me with enough metal left from their destroyed mortars to recycle towards building my ship.
Hope this little post helps those who like me were having trouble with this latest version. Don't give up.
