Got bombed to death by siege. Rip colony - you shall be missed. I just said screw it, and jumped in the cryosleep pods lol

Randy Random Rough, Arid Shrubland.

The colony was cruising along - 6 pawns, a decent system going on. A notification for a raid pops up. Sappers. First time I had them on this colony. They burrow through an ancient danger, opening up some pawns and a bug infestation. The pawns and sappers all die, leaving the bugs. I decided that I could take them on, and installed my turrets near the entrance and opened it up.

Bad idea.

They rush to my pawns, the turrets only making it worse due to friendly fire. Eventually, all my colonists go down. Except one pawn - non violent, sitting around crafting. The remaining turrets take the bugs down. I panic. I quickly order the pawn to rescue everyone, but I realise it's futile. I leave the 2 pawns I rescued in their beds, and tossed the rest into the cryosleep pods. And now I wait, rebuilding my colony. Hopefully Randy doesn't screw anything up.

Use wood?

I like the previous one because it was red-colored.

Use that carefully prepare mod and try creating yourself and some of your friends in it. Restrict the max age to like mid 20's or something. This makes a big difference cause you really get attached to characters and find yourself double checking every decision

Tried it, got rekt immediately by the arrival of manhunter packs.

Well, basically, I don't know what to do.
I really don't.
I just keep on getting stuck on what scenarios to choose, what biome to choose and what terrain to choose.
Please, help.
I also normally play RR challenge/extreme

Suggest me what scenario, biome and terrain to play on. I am an indecisive person.

Well,  maybe your colonists are constantly going into it? When that happens, usually more heat will get transferred to your food storage. Basically, if your colonists keep going in and out, the food storage temp and the dining room temp will be balanced.

So I built a mountain base (for like the first time in 70 hours, I never play mountains). I got a cave in. I built a nice room where the cave-in rocks were still there. I decided to destroy those, thinking the walls provided enough support. They didn't. My 2 colonists, a miner and a person who was a fiancé with my farmer, died. My farmer went berserk twice, although he is still living. And then as soon as those 2 died, a raid came. Now my top builder has no jaw. Rip

So, I selected randy, challenge and a nice large hills ice sheet. Everything going along pretty well, got some worn-down parkas, killed hostile polar bears, you know. But then I researched gun turrets, and forgot to build some. Then a tribal raid of 9 came. I still only had my 3 colonists because the prisoners kept going berserk and kept getting killed. My melee fighter with her personal shield and thrumbo horn bravely charged in and destroyed 5 of them before falling to an arrow. My other 2 pawns got 1 each and the rest fled. I tried to recover but then a toxic fallout set in. This wasn't really a problem, but was still a bit annoying. Kat, the geologist and the jack of all trades, was cooking. Then my other pawn, a pilot, went into a daze- OUTSIDE. So I drafted Kat and made her arrest him. He went berserk and incapped Kat. That is the tale of my ice sheet colony, yet my most satisfying one yet. (Because of the actual story it was able to provide)

After teaching, he goes to his house, opens up his storeroom, gets the wood and and slowly burns it

I was playing Randy challenge on ice sheet, and all the guys that joined wore no pants. The colony died because I researched microelectronics instead of hydroponics...
