But honestly, I don't see why you seem to be rejecting the notion of waiting until you finish your a17 game before updating to a18, anyway.

There's our disconnect! I'm the type of player marathon mode was made for in Civ. I don't like the game to end, and I have no intention of launching my characters off the planet. I like to leave my game running and let the society develop while I read reports on the weekends, and kill the occasional bandit. But, I also like new content. I was wondering when the point is expected to come that updates will not be save-breaking for this game.

...Wipe?  You DO realize you can specify previous Alpha releases in Steam's Beta track, right?  And if you have the Ludeon-specific version, just don't update until you're done with w/e game.

I DO realize that. But that's not what I want. I want my game to update, and to not lose my progress. That's the phase I'm curious when will come about. I got spoiled by Kenshi's development process. I've played that since before it had sound and never had to lose a character. Different engines though, and I recognize that.

I've been waiting to get back in to this game until it's build is stable enough that I won't lose my progress. Is there an expectation on when that will be?

General Discussion / Re: Introduce yourself!
November 06, 2017, 09:00:45 PM
-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

I have a friend that told me about his party and their traits in this game. That, and the ability to replace a person's limbs and senses with robotic upgrades, throw them in some brotherhood-of-steel-esq power armor, give them a mini-gun, and cryo them until needed like some crazy Kurt Russel 'Soldier' shit pretty much sold me.

-What's your favorite other game?

Fallout, forever and always. Even tactics, I miss being able to park a humvee on a super mutant and have my people bash him with sticks. Also, Kenshi for the open-world base building and diversity of experience and options. And by diversity of options, I mean going rogue.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

I played Neverwinter Nights in the RP section as a player and a DM over a decade, so.. this one could get long, drawn out, and awkward.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

I can't eat breakfast, I get sick every time. Except at the galley when I was in the Navy, but I think that got a pass because it wasn't really food.

Outside of all of that, my name's Drew, I'm an employment specialist and benefits planner for a local mental health association. I'm also on the city council in my home town, a modest 16,000 people strong. I was a personnel specialist in the Navy and I love games that let me vent and create. Rimworld is good for both. I enjoy a long game, so I have been looking forward to vehicles and more mobility in my bases to move throughout the world.
