So floors are a mess in terms of balance. Some options are easily better then others in terms of stats.
Let's go over all of the options shall we?
First let's start with smoothed stone. With a cost of some work and nothing more you get a solid 3 beauty tile which is the highest beauty tile in the game. That's right the best tile costs 0 resources while the rest of the tiles all cost something. The only drawback is the fact that you can only get smoothed stone where there was once stone. But that still means that nothing beats it inside a mountain.
Next is the wood floor. Costing 1 wood per tile and giving 2 beauty this thing is cheap to say the least. And even though it is wood, it cannot catch fire at all! This makes it perfect for an area where you want your colonists to move often and it will make the area clear of any potential fire hazard. Solid indeed.
Now here come the bad tiles. the metal, paved and concrete tiles costing 3,2 and 1 steel respectively. First of there is no difference between paved and metal tiles in terms of stats so paved tops metal anyday at 1 beauty. Concrete tiles have 0 beauty but costs just 1 steel. Why you would want any of these tiles is beyond me since steel is a lot more valuable then wood AND wood floors have better stats. Don't even bother with these.
Next are the stone tiles costing more then their wall counterparts at 6 stone blocks each (walls cost 5 blocks) having the same functionality as wood tiles while being 6 times as expensive? No deal. Marble tiles don't even get more beauty making this another useless option.
And lastly the colored carpets. They cost 5 cloth each and give 2 beauty. So in order to fill a 5*10 room you would need to harvest 50 cotton plants, or you could just cut 1 oak tree in the area for the same result. And I am not even mentioning that you need to research them first. Does it look nice? Sure. Useful? Absolutely not.
