Ideas / Beach Biome

Why can't you strand on some nicer place than ice biomes? I would love to see some kind of beach biome with palm trees, coconuts, turtles and monkeys.  :D

Hello,

I would love to play RimWorld in a much more old-fashioned non-SF casual scenario: To be stranded on a lonely island.

I think the engine has already everything such a total conversion would require. I would imagine a mixture of desert and jungle with Hawaiian coconut palm trees, turtles and apes as biome. Instead of building a spaceship you have to build an ordinary raft or ship if you plan to leave the island. Random parts for the raft could drop from time to time at the shore (like something that could be used as sail as in the movie "Cast Away") so that wooden blocks and ropes wouldn't be sufficient. I would remove the robotic alien race to keep the scenario more casual and less hardcore. But you could be attacked from pirates or savage aborigines. Communication to the outside world could be done through radio. An imaginary supply ship could deliver the ordered parts at the shore. Alternatively, the communication functionality could be removed to keep it more realistic. There are some more features that don't fit to the scenario. For example, fights had to be non-automatic, but that would be okay (and maybe even more interesting?) without too big dangers like robotic alien attacks or similar events.

So basically I think most of the work would be to remove existing features that don't fit in and change existing features (graphically and textually) to fit to the scenario. A few materials should be removed that simply don't exist on a lonely island. Some other game parts might require some fantasy, but I think it wouldn't have to be a completely realistic scenario to be fun.

I hope the idea has inspired some of you modders. :)

Best regards,
