Mods / [Request] Religious Art and Joy items
September 04, 2016, 08:49:21 PM
I have several peasant colonists that take to meditating or praying in their shoddy wooden huts, since the glorious plasteel horshoe courts, chess and card tables, and art galleries are in the lavish and wealthy district. (Shout out to CurpoPanda)

This afternoon, after giving another peasant a nasty beating for being "joy deprived" and "berserk", I suddenly had the idea that wouldn't it be great to distract these wretches with some good ol' fashioned hope?

Perhaps a Cross sculpture made of Jade? With some comfy marble pews to sit in? Maybe some muffalo floor mats for worshipping?

It's no secret that the gods might be turning a bit of a blind eye on the Rim, but some of these colonists (and slaves) have faith!

Anybody up to the task?

Mods / [Mod Request] Basketball Goal joy item
April 17, 2016, 03:29:39 PM
If anyone thinks they can rework the code for the Horseshoe joy item to use a Baseball Goal for the base and a Basketball instead of horseshoes, I would have no problem doing the artwork.

I can't seem to figure out this bit of coding myself and I'm desperate for new joy items to use in a military base I have.

Help / Removing weapons, amongst other things
September 27, 2015, 06:05:14 PM
Hey everyone, I've got a question or two about Alpha 12d.

I'm coming back to modding Rimworld after a few alphas and realize I'm behind on getting it all to work.
I've started with trying my usual go to whenever a new alpha is out, which is to remove the mini gun and launchers from spawning in the game and then to make the research table smaller.

Whenever I remove the weapons from the weapons ThingDef, the game will not start and will just give me a black screen.

The smaller research tables I've made show up in Architect, but when I build them none of the colonists realize it is a research table and I'm still prompted to build my first when visiting the Research screen. I also get a notice in the console telling me that R key for Research is already binded.

Any ideas?

Mods / (Request) More Prisoner Oriented Mods
September 05, 2014, 02:40:28 AM
One thing I missed from previous releases were the Beatings for prisoners as a form of coercion.
Usually with my current colonies, I eventually build a decent prison to hold captured enemies or the unfortunate passerby. Then as time goes on, it's either recruit or basically store them until a slave ship passes by.

What I'm proposing are a compilation of mods or an overhaul of the current prisoner system. A few ideas I've thought of over the past few days:

Beatings and Executions
-bring back beatings obviously
-executions IMO are too quick and impersonal, the sound of a gunshot or even a knife slice would make it better
-an Electric Chair, Gas Chamber, etc (perhaps a modified blasting charge that uses gas instead, needs constant replacement).

A Torture/Brainwash Table
-could be used in lieu of a prisoner's bed
-torture tools could be made from a separate bench and used by wardens
-increases fear and likelihood of recruitment

More Prison Oriented Rooms\Devices
-obligatory walls and tiles (padded rooms for those colonists who lose it)
-Straightjackets that limit movement
-perhaps a jailer's console to lock down doors remotely to stop those pesky escapes
-if there is a "door key" all colonists use, perhaps a "jail key" is possible

I'm sure some of these will be outside the relm of possibility until Alpha 7 or beyond, but it's definitely something to think about. If anyone is interested in pursuing this let me know so I can keep an eye out.

Help / Modifying resources.assets
March 21, 2014, 07:10:21 PM
Is there any current way to modify the assets file besides the Unity resource editor? I'm trying to modify the texture files specifically, through the Mods folder.

Might just be a personal preference, but I prefer it if my colonists didn't come of their pod looking like a beefcake.
This mod removes the fat and hulk body shapes of colonists to allow for normal or thin body shapes only.

Installation of this mod involves replacing the resources.assets file, so be sure to back it up.
If anyone knows of an easier/cleaner way of going about this, PM me. I'm a first time modder.
Please, do not post this anywhere else but here without PMing me.

Due to the restrictions of the current alpha, this mod is not available as a check and uncheck
Mods menu item; usage and installation is a simple file replacement until further notice.

Installation
Simply replace the resources.assets file in your Rimworld data folder with the copy in the archive linked below.
Don't forget to backup your original!

Unstallation
Delete the resources.assets in your Rimworld data folder and replace it with your backup copy.
